pocketgpsworld.comOne of the marketing guys at NDrive brought this "GPS Software for Phones" side by side comparison to our attention.

The benchmark study, which covers 7 of the biggest satnav brands, is by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Porto with the tests carried out on a HTC TyTN 11.

I'm sure NDrive think this is a great advert for their software but it is so one-sided and biased that all it actually does is suggest that NDrive are involved in rather underhand marketing.

NDrive have not admitted any involvement in this study but we'll leave you to draw your own conclusions!

Hmm, judging by some of the test parameters and the conclusion I drew the strong impression that the test was sponsored by NDrive!

Rather one sided if you ask me!

Neither does it portray what can be done with the software fully when running on decent hardware, the part about Favourites is nothing short of a joke - Mike

I am able to compare TomTom (930 device) and Co-Pilot (7 - on PDA) and this looks like a poor set of test results with the user unfamiliar with the software. The tester seems to be unaware of the inferential shortcuts which makes it quicker to get the calculation and also ignores the fact the for 1150kms trip, the time taken for calculation is largely irrelevant and could easily be affected by the route chosen.

I'm no expert but PGPSW offers far better reviews and are definitely better to trust.

Is this not just a slide show put together by N Drive.
Videos didn't work for me either

Nope, it is supposedly a comparison done by some university students. NDrive make no statement as to their involvement but I think we can safely say they must have been Laughing

Utter drivel and factually incorrect - check the tables of features - they blatantly ignore features that other systems have. I have iGO8 and TomTom on my system and they can do things that apparently are not features of the software. Also the number of clicks is less relevant than how intuitive the software is (tomtom wins in my opinion).

I have not tried ndrive and cannot comment on it beyond saying it looks good but I dislike misrepresentation of the other systems capabilities.

Companies use all sorts of tactics to raise their profile, nowt wrong with that. But 'if' this has been instigated by NDrive (and we don't know that it has) then I'd suggest it does them more harm than good.

It's so blatantly one sided and biased that it would more likely cause me not to consider them.

NDrive is quite good, I'm not too keen on the aerial view stuff, might be Ok for pedestrian use but far too much for drivers, info overload that makes it very hard to read quickly but their basic software is good.

A definite own goal methinks.

Well yes, whilst I personally think that was a mistake we are all allowed our own opinions and anyone reading this thread will see what they are?

Had to look back to refresh my memory, yes it does doesn't it!

I'm sorely tempted to strike the news post and this thread as the 'study' si farcical.
