Can someone tell me the difference between WCE 2 Gig and WCE Full maps ???
I have searched but cannot find a definitive answer, some have said more detail but looking at both side by side I don't see any difference at all.

I have used both in the UK and not noticed any differences.
There must be some as the files are different sizes, but I have yet to find any.
The usual answer is detail, and the smoothing on curves and corners (of the roads). |

What's the size of the poi.dat file in full vs. the 2GB map? I know that is one difference between the North_America_2GB and NA full, the full has a much larger poi.dat file included.

TomTom always say that the maps contain the same road data, and until recently I believed this to be so. There are some obvious differences, eg less detail of topography, such as lakes, woodland and curves on roads not so smoothly drawn, ie more jagged, but these don't affect navigation. However, a couple of months ago there was a thread where a member provided screenshots showing a lot fewer roads at his holiday destination in Spain on the smaller map. I haven;t noticed any difference in UK or France/Portugal, but evidently not all roads are on the reduced size maps

It was seen in this topic that small roads were missing on the 1Gb map. I've never seen roads actually missing when comparing "full" maps with my 2Gb one - well not so far anyway.
poi.dat from v835 2Gb on a 730 is 55.7Mb.
EDIT - this is the WCE map.

Might be an idea to ask TT and then post their reply.

That's been tried more then once before.... TomTom always say there are no differences to the road network, but the other details may be reduced. |
