RTM is Release To Manufacture - in other words the gold build, the one that ships to the shops for release day.
Build numbers identify beta releases prior to the RTM, where code is tried out on the development community or the general public, either formerly or through escape via Bittorrent.
Enterprise is the business version of Ultimate
You do have 64 bit, so it is more complex than just 64 vs 32, although none of the TomToms you have are the same as the ones I have. |

I have logged a call with TomTom and will post their reply...
So here is the begining of their 'couldn't be bothered to pay attention to your problem' reply...
[/i] |
I also contacted TomTom and got the same useless cut&paste answer which bares no relation to the problem at hand. Anyway, since I read (somewhere else) that someone reported that out of his two identical tomtom 9xx, only one caused the crash, there might a a chance to circumvent the issue by formating and setting the device up again from scratch. I will attempt this in the next few days. |

The new TomTom Home version (2.7.3.1894) works for me now. Please let me know if it works for you too.

Updated version of Home, but it still will not see the TomTom 730.
I have progressed to level 2 support, but have had no contact from them for 2 days.

Go to device manager, select 'show hidden devices' and look for any 'unknown devices'... delete them and then select 'scan for hardware changes', you might have to restart also.
Please let me know if that helps.

Well, that was exciting!! Yes, I found an unknown device. Uninstalled it. Scanned for new hardware. Windows promptly crashed (bluescreen). Having rebooted the unknown device has not returned, but still no joy with getting Home to see TomTom.

I also removed my SD-Card before scanning for new hardware, however i guess that won't make much difference. Did you install the new TomTom Home version beforehand?
I guess i was just lucky with my computer then.

Just ended up with a very unstable machine, and had to do a System Restore. Guess I'll have to stop tinkering and trying to make it work, and wait for TomTom Support (level 2) to come up with something.
Thanks for your help.

I just tried to connect my tomtom again to make a backup and it now doesn't work anymore again. Even the steps I described above don't have any effect anymore.

In response to my support call re Windows 7 RTM 64 bit bluescreening when I connect my TomTom 950, I finally got this reply from tech support:
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Care
The reference number for your query is 091110-060090.
After investigating this issue with our 2nd line technicians we came to the conclusion that there is an issue when connecting the device to a PC using windows 7.
Therefore I would advise to use another PC with either Windows XP or Windows Vista.
So there we have it - yes it does cause a problem, and the solution is to buy another computer with XP or Vista. You have got to love them.
No 'Sorry', no 'We are working on it, patch in x days/months/years".
Just toddle off and get yourself another computer - Now my question to TomTom would be which is cheaper, returning my 950 to Amazon as not fit for purpose, and buying from another manufacturer, or buying another computer so I can connect to TomTom Home....?
I guess they are not bothered one way or the other. |

C'mon, c'mon! All this talk of "problem" is wrong - you can see TomTom's response - it's an "issue". It may even also be a "challenge", but it's certainly not a problem - that would mean something's wrong with their gear. _________________ Dennis

Finally, genuinely good news.
New version of TomTom Home - 2.7.3.1894, and new version of the application 9.022.457667.1
Now installed and working with Windows 7 RTM 64bit Enterprise.
Now someone just needs to tell tech support! |

Nashogg - what do you mean by "the application 9.xxxxx"? and how did you get it. Is it specifically for the 950?
