Looks like we're not even allowed to self-censor any more. Don't you think that's getting a bit petty?
And how is your "censored symbol any different from other "disguising" characters? Even the BBC allow asterisks!

Sorry to drag this on, I've got too much time on my hands these days.

Way too much time, the difference between our censor image and using asterisks is that the latter leaves the original meaning all too clear.

I think we've done this to death, can we drop it now?

When in argument in the pub or somewhere similar I can understand that language can easily become distorted and interjected with obscenities but in a technical discussion it seems to me that foul language is only used by those who have a very limited vocabulary and cannot find suitable words to adequately express themselves.

Here obscenities are nothing more than mindless graffiti.
