|
|
The world's first turn-by-turn navigation app for the iPod touch has been approved by Apple and is now available for download from the App Store.
GeoLife and PosiMotion have announced that their joint project, Navmii, contains UK maps and as well as bringing brings voice guided navigation to the iPod touch also supports the classic iPhone as well as the iPhone 3G and 3GS.
US maps are expected in the next couple of weeks with Europe following shortly after.
And one feature worth shouting about, Navmii uses the PocketGPSWorld safety camera database!
Navmii requires pairing with a PosiMotion G-Fi, the world's first mobile network/GPS router for use with the iPod Touch. Posimotion also claims to increase GPS accuracy when used with the iPhone 3G and 3GS but it is not required for Navmii to work with these devices. _________________ Robert Brady |

The app is available now in itunes. The G-Fi unit is $99 while stocks last.
It also apparently has PocketGPS World camera Database - you guys snuck that one in quietly! _________________ Alan - iPhone 5 64GB, with CamerAlert, TomTom Europe & CoPilot |

I've updated the announcement and the 'Read More' link with screen-shots and the news that it uses our database.
I don't know as yet what format the data is, we supply direct to Navmii but I will ask about update frequency etc. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Out of curiousity, is this the only iPhone SatNav product that has the PGW database? |

We have many irons in the fire, some come to fruition, others don't but I;d certainly hope Navmii is not the only one in time. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi there,
Does anyone know if the additional peripheral will be on sale in the UK?
Also in a similar vain, does anyone know if the Tomtom cradle with additional GPS will ever work with the 1st gen touch?
Regards
Kevo

I'm testing/evaluating at the moment and its quite good. It has a nice clean map display, the UI is intuitive and simple to use and most features are present.
It's lacking TTS and waypoints, reality view and traffic but the team behind this are keen to add much more functionality and they recently said they were working hard to give it more features than the competition.
Naturally we would like it to do well given it uses our database but even so, it is a nice solution and well worth evaluating.

Yes, it will be available in the UK and I hope to have a review unit shortly.

As far as I know, this is a strong possibility. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm very tempted by this. Do we know yet how often the cameras are updated? And do we have to wait for a full app download or is there in-app camera updates? _________________ Alan - iPhone 5 64GB, with CamerAlert, TomTom Europe & CoPilot |
