what this needs is a twitter smear-campaign!
a few threats of "given up on copilot, moving to sygic instead due to custom POI/speed cam support" could work in our favour

Out of interest, why does the ALK speed camera database import over 32000 POI's when the PGPSW one has better coverage from approx 11000 entries? |

or approximately half the PGPSW database. That's reassuring... |

Hi, I'm no expert but ALK's website says that you can import OV and bmp files for poi's. I assume that if we import the OV and bmp files from the TomTom section then all the safety cameras show up as points of interest and not the dreaded cameras. I will call ALK Tech support later today as I have just installed their Camera DB and it works. Perhaps they should mass purchase a subscription from PGPSW for a tidy little some and provide an decent free Database to their customer. Really wish I hadnt updated the software. |

No, they managed to break the import facility in the 8.0.0.444 release and have promised to fix it in the next release, so for now you're stuck with their camera database.
The good news is that on the Android platform CPL8 survived the upgrade to Donut (Android 1.6).
The bad news is that ALK Support is as quick as ever at responding to issues... |

Hi guys,
I've been scratching my head 'cos I've followed the SpeedCam installation guide to the letter - and now read this thread!
So, - 'cos I'm a bit thick - am I right in thinking that I can't crowbar the PGPSW speed cams into my CoPilot Live 8 on Android at all?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Pixel 3A + Camera Alert |

The only thick ones are Co-Pilot for removing custom POIs. Currently there is no way to force the speed cameras into it. ALK have said they will fix it in the next update but give no indication when that may be. |

Thanks scarymonkey. As I only downloaded it today (CPL8) I think I'll get a refund and go back to my TomTom with PGPSW until they fix it.
That is unless you guys think the CPL8 safetycam data is good enough? _________________ Pixel 3A + Camera Alert |

Copilot 8.0.0.493 has been released on Android but the POI import for the camera files here appears to be broken (at least for me). I can get a single file imported correctly but when I try the consolidated import it is hanging again after the first file. Unfortunately it doesn't appear possible to add the remaining files easily but restarting the app this time.
I will continue to play around in order to try and fix this but it looks like ALK have failed again unfortunately. |

I've noticed the new Co-pilot update in the market place and was wondering whether ALK had fixed the import facility. I always use to use the single file type anyway, never really found that the separate file for each camera type imported very well, always hanging on the program.
So, I assume from Scarymonkeys post about, the program will import the single file database. I'll give it a goe in the morning, assume that you just do it the way I use to before ALK fowled up the last update. |

OK, well it would seem that the single camera database installs OK, haven't tried the consolidated files as they never worked correctly for me anyway. So, I can confirm that I am back where I was before the last update.
Just followed the instructions as per website, deleted ALK's cameras (totally useless) and installed PGPSW DB and all OK.
Anyone got the consolidated DB to install properly yet? |

They've managed to fix it and break it again all in one go. When you try to install the consolidated files, i.e. "pocketgps_uk_gatso" it gets installed into a folder without the type, i.e. "pocketgps_uk". If you try to install a second type nothing happens, presumably because the existance of the first installation. |
