|
|
I noticed at the end of Channel 5's "Gadget Show" on 12th October that in next week's show they are doing an outdoor sports challenge, and I am sure that there was a glimpse of a sports GPS in the preview clip. It looked like an OS map on the unit's screen. Was it a Satmap Active 10? I am not sure as it was only on the television for a moment and the presenter was masking the sides of the unit with his hand.
For those of you who can receive it, the show is at 8pm on Monday 19th October; otherwise it can be downloaded afterwards from Channel 5's website http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/
Apologies if it turns out to be a rival unit, or a GPS package on a mobile phone!
With regards,
Tim |

The Gadget Show covered the Satmap a while back so it will be unusual if they focus on it again but we'll see. TGS is essential viewing here. Even if the tests are sometime a little silly, it's good telly! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I watch it, but only from a recording, so that I can fast-forward through the rubbish bits (of which there seems to be a lot more lately). |

I recorded it and watched that section back on slow motion. It was definatly an Active 10 and a Garmin. |

Satmap Active 10 plus was reviewed on the Gadget Show Oct 19th and got a 5 Gs rating the highest rating ever given for a GPS. I have had mine for a couple of years now and could not agree more, interestingly the Garmin it went up against had problems not even Garmin could sort out which is not great for them. |

The gave it a good second review and an ad hoc 5G score as well. Good second showing on the show there. |

Glad to see they didn't penalise it for the SD card issue. Had that happened in real life, checking the SD card would have been on of the first things any Satmap user would have done. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes I thought that,it doesn't take a genius to work out that if the maps aren't showing that it could be the SD card.
Mind you it did demonstrate that if there was an SD fault that was not user correctable then you were at least left with some mapping and not a blank screen.
