I have downloaded and installed the speed camera data base exactly as per the instructions including enabling it on the proximity alert page and so on but when using the device I see the grey/red box alerts but not any of the icons showing the camera's actual location. Can anyone help?

Tom, I've posted a link to your query in the Subscriber section as well. In the meantime, have you installed any other POIs?
The grey box you refer to, is that on the map where you would expect a speedcam icon to be or is that part of the alert at top right? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The grey / red box alerts are the worded warnings that appear. Grey indicates you are under the speed limit and red for over.
Trom100 can you confirm you also uploaded the icons with the CSV data files?
Does anything appear where the camera should be? Grey dots?
Can you see a known camera if you browse to a known lcoation on the map and zoom right in?
Have you tried reloading the database again? |

Thanks everyone - I understand the grey/red boxes - I was trying to explain these were all I see. There are no grey dots and none of the cameras near my house appear on the map in either 2D or 3D no matter the level of detial or zoom setting.
I uploaded the POI by following the instructions on the GPS website and as far as I can tell the only difference in the Garmin is a new file entitles poi.gpi in the Garmin/poi folder. I have reinstalled the poi using the poi loader again and this file has updated to today's date.
On the Garmin I cannot l see and *.csv or *.bmp files though these all exist in the folder on my PC. |

I have not your unit but in my oregon I see
Mycomputer/Garmin Oregon(K)/Garmin/poi.gpi-GPIfile 955kb
I have speed zoned and two other normal POIs Categories loaded.
I do not think you should see *.csv or *.bmp files!
You should have an OPTION to show 'USER Waypoints' at different zoom levels. _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600

Tools, Settings, Proximity Points
Make sure the alerts for Custom POIs are on under Proximity Alerts. |

Thanks again - Paul - I did already have alerts switched on for custom POIs and eyeQue I don't have a "show user waypoint" command on my Zumo 660 - or at least if ti is there I cannot find it which might be the problem.

Apart from the ".bmp" at the end, are the icon file names EXACTLY (I mean EXACTLY!) the same as for the related camera files? _________________ David

I have changed nothing since downloading from the pocket gps site but inspection of the files shows them to be exactly the same. Tom |

Third attempt... Ahem...
Can you see a known camera if you browse to a known lcoation on the map and zoom right in?
You won't get a Proximity Alert and Speed Alert if you BROWSE the map to a known location and zoom right in....
Can you also try re-downloading the database and re-loading to the unit? |

Have you tried Go To - Waypoints or POIs.
Choose one camera location and see if the icon shows up!
If it does not then you could assume that the icons have not transferred.
How many POI categories are you transferring with POI Loader?
Which database are you using? _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600

It would help us if you state who's suggestion you are replying to here?
Is this in relation to Paul or eyeQue? _________________ Darren Griffin |
