Microsoft ActiveSync 4.0

I have just run MS Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on my PC and it has highlighted that the above programme is not compatible with Windows 7 and will need updating with one of their downloads.

Am I correct in thinking that ActiveSync is needed to update my VM via the Content Manager and does anyone know if playing around with it now and downloading this 'fix' will mess up any future updates from VM please?

Yes, I'm certain you need ActiveSync. Can't say what the upgrade might do. But unless you have to I don't think I'd bother upgrading anyway, if you are worried about the VM, until you're forced to! (Do you need Windows 7 yet?).

But if you have a laptop or something you could set up a backup there and then upgrade your main system and check.

activesync is required, but unfortunately, Vista and W7 no longer uses this, but a new software package called "windows mobile device centre". This however is not compatable with the viamichelin sat nav systems.

if you upgrade you will no longer be able to connect to the sat nav unit.
