TT 720 unable to use map on SD card

Ihave (after 2 hours on phone to TT) managed to get my latest updated Western & central europe maps onto my new 4gig SD card,as the new W&C Europe maps are to large for the interal memory after removing all old maps W&C Europe,Canary islands,all but 2 voices it still requires 27 mb
however using TT home,clik device , clik change device , clik select memory card
my 720 will not go over to the SD card maps PLEASe can some one help

You new map download will be located on your computer simply insert the SD card in to a card reader and unzip the map download to the card, there will be two downloaded files (both are zipped up) the large one contains the map data, the smaller file is the map activation file, this also needs unzipping to the same folder on the SD card.
Once you have the map folder complete on the SD card take it out of the card reader and insert it to the TT, start the device and use Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Maps to select your new map.

As yo u see from the above it is possible to download a map using TomTom Home, then install it using Windows Explorer which is more predictable and reliable - Mike

mike thanks for your reply, first,I am a Dunce regarding computes.
I have found a folder in my doc's marked TomTom. on opening there are 3 folders .marked backup ,download, & from device
download contains 2 folders marked Complete & temp(empty)

Complete contains a folder marked map, this, contains a folder,marked W&C europe map,
on opening this there 5 are items
1 ,activation map 50838.
2, map14290, gif 48x48 image ,
3 map 14390-1 map 160x160 gif image,
4, zip file ,W&C europe ,1867,090 kb
5, W&C europe TOC file 6 kb

I am asuming that it is the "complete"folder I send to the SD card ????

You need to unzip items 4 and 1 (in that order) to the memory card - Mike
