I had to do a new install to my 720.
I have got backups but not with me at the momnet.
I just reformated my drive and then let TThome reinstall a new application.

Luckily i had a backup of my map on an sd card so that's all ok and working again.

However i don't have speech input or text to speech for directions.

Is there some more files that i'm missing, if so where could i get them from?
Again i do have backup's but they're not available at the mo.

Thanks for any help

You need some cspeechXX.dat files in the specific map folder (where XX = country like GB) and you need a text file called support_asr.dat with nothing but a 1 in it in the asr folder.

Try now, if the icons are still greyed out, navigate to--city--and make sure you've selected the GB map in the next screen top right.

Try now.

Hi David,

Thanks,

I had the cspeech files but i didn't have the support_asr.dat file.

I lifted this from my wifes and now i have speech input ok.

Just done a quick route demo and it doesn't seem like i have the text to speech for street names.

Any ideas?

Change Preferences/ Voice preferences/ Switch voice and make sure the selected voice has the words "Computer voice" in the top right corner of the picture (Kate and Simon are the two UK voices) - Mike

Also remember that the demo won't use a computer voice or any voice if the speed is set for greater than 400% (with latest applications). Used to be 200%.

You may wish to do a reset of the unit. May not help but won't hurt (you might have to reset the time, that's all).

I went through a phase of losing TTS voices ocassionally.
Old copies of MapSettings.cfg can stop the computer voices working so this could well be the problem if you've downloaded a new version of Navcore but used a backup map folder including the .cfg file from an older version.
Delete that file (it will create a new, empty one on next boot up) and also do a return to factory settings.

Update:

Yes it worked fine today, back to street names at it should.

Thanks everyone.

One last not so important question.

The icon on "my computer" is now the default drive icon for the unit rather than the round red hands icon that it used to be.
I copied over the tomtom.ico from my wifes 920 but it still shows up as the default drive icon.
Any other thing it should have for it to show correctly?
