Hi
I have noticed recently, what appears to be a new police tactic.

Police car with no blue lights or siren on, charges along in the third lane of the motorway. If the car approaches someone who doesn't immediately move out of the way, on come the blue lights until they move. Then the lights go off again and away the police car goes at a speed that would get the rest of us in quite a bit of bother.

I have witnessed this on several occasions now and would be interested to know if this is a legitimate way of responding to an incident or just a case of do as we say, not what we do. Question

Cheers

My guess is that they are following someone, at a distance, without making the subject aware that they are being followed, hoping that the subject can be stopped by another vehicle ahead.

Q:Does a Police Car have to use blues&twos when exceeding the posted speed limit, while actively on a case?
A:I don't think so, but maybe Darren, or an acting officer, could comment?

Q:If the drivers already in the outside lane see a Police Car behind them, travelling at speed, would it be sensible to get out of the way?
A:I rather think it would!!

So what should you do when you find yourself closing on a Police car on the Motorway thats got the Blue lights going - chasing a cop car and closing down on it isn't very smart - I had to hit the cruise control disconnect the other weekend near Wigan Embarassed - Mike
