Hi Folks
About two weeks ago someone (I think it was Darren) mentioned the latest way of positioning one’s Tomtom on the cars dashboard. He was referring to the Tomtom beanbag and he found the method preferable to mounting the Tomtom on the window screen. Since then I have purchased a beanbag and thought I would give my opinion on the purchase.
In one word its brilliant. I have used it in five different vehicles with no bother at all. I have been able to position it wherever I have chosen and the sucker ring on the windscreen is now a thing of the past. It stays exactly where I have placed it on the dashboard and corners and bumpy roads have never affected it at all.
Yes, I recommend it. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I agree the bean bags are brilliant. I have a Sendai one and it stays in place whatever the road conditions. I also purchased the tom tom dashboard mount that sticks on the bean bag like glue
Also it has the convenience of being able to be moved anywhere on the dashboard. With the satnav removed it is easily stored with the mount attached in the boot. |

Hi Darren
I had the beanbag brought for me as a present (a nice surprise) and it was the Tomtom product. I would have gone for the Arkon myself but one must not look a gift-horse in the mouth.
Some of the cars that I drive, especially those with a large sloping screen have often caused me agro when trying to position the mount on the glass. Taking the thing off the screen used to be even worse. But now with the beanbag its all so simple. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

TomTom don't make one hence my question It may be sold as 'for TomTom' but it ain't TomTom's or approved by them.
Is it circular or does it have an open side? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren
It’s the one with the open side and where it came from I have no idea.
By the way, I hadn’t even heard of the beanbag until you mentioned it. Thanks.
The strange thing is that the idea is so simple and one must wonder why the product had not come out before. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi Darren, you are quite correct. So, it is an Arkon and I was wrong about it being a Tomtom product. Sorry about that. However, it brillient. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

TomTom themselves may not make one, but they certainly sell one, so I'd guess that *is* approved by them! |

Hi Darren if you click on Andy's words 'sell one' you will see a picture of the beanbag. and (I have good eyesight) you will see a small label on the right hand side of the product with the words Tomtom on it. Er! I think. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

It looks identical to the one I bought from Blue Unplugged but at about 3 times the price. I'm pleased with it especially as my new car has a very steep windscreen and it would be nearly impossible to use it. I've never used the safety hook, in fact I don't even know where it is, and it never moves.
I copied the picture from Andy_P's link and enlarged it. It gets very blurred but the label seems to have the TT Hands logo and a word in red that certainly could be TomTom _________________ TT Go Essential |

My apologies for doubting you, I'm blaming my recuperation and the morphine for the error but actually its just plain my fault! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Can someone please give me some clues as to the best place in the UK to get one of these. I searched a couple of places, but haven't bought GPS off interweb for ages, so not sure on best deals.
