Have a look at Argos....They want 48 quid |
There's two types of receiver. The USB one is around the £40 odd mark. The older round connector one is the one being sold cheap by Currys etc if you can still find them. |
My one has a small white label on it with 4V00.013
Its stopped working...so not sure if its my TomTom or The cable...
Would invest a couple of quid if i could get my hands on one

I still haven't got anywhere with this. Took it back to Halfords, they rung TomTom, on the retailer number, which meant I had to go through the whole process from here again. Delete teh app, delete the map, clear flash, update Home, reinstall everything. Still no good. Even me telling them that a backup from 6 months ago, when it worked, doesn't work anymore, cut no ice.
Today, I tried the returns route again. Halfords rung up for an RMA number, and after me speaking to them again, I still have the unit, to try one more thing. That is use Home to delete the map from the unit, and then allow Home to update it. This is something from level 2 support, as the first install of the current map messes it up.
Well, guess what, no traffic. No strip on the right hand side, and no message to say its plugged in. So I have update the question on the TT site, and see if I get ignored for another 5 days.
TomTom are really taking the mickey here, its like a bunch of morons reading from a script, and paying no attention to what you tell them at all. I could tell them the machine has just melted, and they would still ask me to try a reset. I am getting seriously miffed with this company.

I have a 730 and my brother in law has a 930. after the latest updates (not new maps) we have both lost RDS-TMC,the traffic bar does not even appear any more. it must be a software problem from TomTom. |

I have two of these, Re: Curry's special offer, and neither have picked up a signal in the last two weeks in Spain since I have had them. I have even had them hanging out of my bedroom window overnight on occaisions, but no traffic info recieved to date. I shall be back in the UK soon and shall put them to the test then.
I hope others have had better luck than me. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

OK got it sorted. (This wasn't only related to a new map upgrade). I reinstalled my backup from last month and got the receiver recognised, and then applied the updates once again and all is now fine. I think this was a corrupt file download from TomTom which I have experienced before. Thank god for backup's |

I have now got mine sorted as well.
Replaced the two files which had zero bytes. Then renamed the gnsdata file, it doesn't get replaced on my 930 on boot up, doesn't appear to be needed. But I have got traffic info.

Mine still isn't recognised. To compound the issue, I got the dodgy email yesterday from TomTom about a new map, but I already have the latest map, which has completely screwed my device.
No amount of formatting, deleting files, replacing files, new apps, new maps has fixed it. I have completely reformatted the internal disk, and started again from a backup that worked from late last year, just to make sure.
Now the real issue- today its 12 months old, so now no warranty. I only hope TomTom honour their word on the phone, i.e., as I have had this issue open with them since the 2nd, its not an issue. However, they won't currently talk to me. Strange how if I don't update the question for 3 days, its closed, but they ignore it forever
Still in search of a fix, or soneone in the MK area I can do some tests with.
Cheers.

I've tried the fix, and although the traffic signal shows a lock on (the green dot), it refuses to download anything. This has only happened since I got the new maps :-( |

I am using A 940 Live and my subscription service ran out last week. I plugged in the 4V00.014 USB cable I bought and TMC traffic has worked great for the past week. Getting connected quickly and downloading traffic info as expected.
A few days ago I had another onscreen envelope and it was a message from Tomtom confirming my subscription had expired. Ever since then I have not been able to get the TMC service to launch. When I switch on I get the traffic bar on the right with the rotating circle as it checks for a valid LIVE subscription but then the traffic bar dissappears and it does not default over to the TMC service.
I have not updated anything since it was working ok so I am wondering if it is the cable. It stays plugged in to the 12v so the TMC module in the antenna has always been powered up. Could it have burnt out?
Any help appreciated. |

I have also had problems. I have the type of receiver with a jack plug, and it works fine in UK. I recently spent 4 weeks in France. It worked all the way to Dover, but when I landed in France the sidebar did not show and most of the menu items relating to Traffic were grey. I tried a reset and various other things suggested by TomTom but witjhout effect. On the way home, as soon as I landed in UK it all worked perfectly again.
