|
|
I have a Packard Bell PocketGear3025 (6 weeks old).
TomTom 3 was installed and functioning.
I allowed the battery to become completely discharged now I find, after recharging the battery, that the TomTom progam is not listed among the programs.
All the other pre-installed programs (Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, File Explorer etc.) are available. I have used "File Search" but TomTom is not found.
Is this phenomenon normal?

Letting your battery go flat wipes the RAM and returns the Pocket PC to the state you received it in. The built in applications are in ROM, so they'll still be installed. You'll need to reinstall TomTom Navigator and all other programs and data you installed, as well as creating a new partnership in ActiveSync (you may need to delete the old one first - that can be done using File -> Delete Partnership in ActiveSync).
The best thing is simply not to let your battery go flat - leave the Pocket PC on the charger when it's not in use (Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries are actually best kept topped up).
If you want to avoid this scenario in the future, I highly recommend Sprite Backup. Amongst other things, it can start an automatic backup when your battery is nearly flat. Make sure, though, that you're backing up to memory that won't be wiped if you lose power - such as a storage card.

Mine backs up every night at midnight onto the SD card and I then transfer it to my pc for safekeeping. _________________ Tim |
