Funny how typing out a post can focus the mind - sorted - please ignore. |

What map are you trying this on?
I've just found the roads you're talking about (they're in Colchester if any one else wants to try it).
On my map (Western and Central Europe v830) I tried a route plan from where Straight Road becomes Boxsted Straight Road to half way along Dedham Road
......and it took me by the obvious route.
The same happened if I extended the route to Whalbone Corner at Langham Hall further north.
EDIT: In the time it took me to work it all out and post the pics, you'd sorted it, but I'll leave them here for a little while if it's of any interest. |

Thanks Andy & sorry to have wasted your time. I took the post down almost immediately but obviously not quick enough!
My map is UK 815 but as I originally said, it's always been the same. Plotting such a short distance local route as you have isn't the issue. If you try again but say set Ipswich as the destination, you will see it picks Cage Lane as both the Shortest & Fastest way to the nearby A12.
My problem with Mapshare was a lack of understanding of how the Turn Restrictions actually worked. |

| It would help others with the same problem (and satisfy others idle curiosity!) if you could put back the original question. _________________ Jock
