I still can't get HD traffic working on my 540! My problem is that I can see the zero kb traffic.dat file in the map folder on the device, but I can't see a 'populated' traffic.dat file in the download map folder, when I unzip it. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ive got the same problem as some with the RDS-TMC not working any longer. The traffic files aren't 0kb, but it still doesn't work. I am away from home currently, so can't try and extract the necessary files just to double check. I have the 835 series map on my 730 (T) or just 730 at the moment.

Can someone post the smaller of the two files, obviously not the large one. All I get with TMC cable plugged in is a message that "bluetooth has been disabled" when I click on the Traffic icon. IF I turn bluetooth on, which it never has been, I get a message that wireless data is turned off, Uh.

Any help please. I could do with traffic for the 300 mile journey home on Monday, just in case. Ta

I managed to sort this. I couldn't do it on mac so the works PC was used! Forced a new download of the map and all is now fine.

Hooked up my 730 to TT Home yesterday for the first time in a while, and was informed of a CRITICAL update to Home. Downloaded and all worked fine. No mention of any new map!!
Connected to TT home again today and lo and behold it NOW tells me there's a new map available.

Now call me cynical if you like, but is the new map download now waiting to see the new version of Home, before it tells you about the map!.
In other words have TomTom now realised the problem all along was downloading the new map to the old version of Home.

I haven't downloaded the new map yet as I am away for a few days and don't want to tempt fate, but I'll let you know if all goes well, or otherwise, when I get back.

Steve

TomTom may have fixed the probs with map updates (I must admit, I did not have any) by the critical update of Home, BUT this version 2.7.1.1812 now has yet more adverts for the map update service just where the app. reporting the number of map updates should be! I do realise that they are pushing for 'added value' sales but this takes the biscuit. An extension for Home that has been pushed out for no good reason. Good on you TomTom!

Sorry to disillusion you but I downloaded after downloading the critical update for HOME and I still had the rebooting loop.

Did you try connecting to Home and maling one change to a Favourite by adding one, deleting one or editing one?

Then disconnect your unit properly from the computer and see if the rebooting is fixed.

Ok, so that's another theory down the drain! Confused

Looks like I may have to prepare for the worst in a few days after all! Sad

Well, after 2 hours of downloading the new map, my 730 reloaded, and then reloaded, and then reloaded etc. well you know the rest!.
Tried the "operate my go" trick, no luck. So I checked the mapSettings.cfg file on the new map and it seemed to be the same size as my old one, however I took the old one from the backup and replaced the one in the new map.

Disconnected the unit from home and rebooted - all ok! Jumping With Joy

Thank God for this forum Razz - if I hadn't read this thread I wouldn't have had a clue.

Come on TomTom, I'm sure you must read these posts, so do us all a favour and LISTEN to what we're saying Evil or Very Mad

That's exactly what got mine working again although I did use Operate my Go to delete a few favourites as well.

Since I posted I have been offered and downloaded another HOME critical update so maybe your theory is right after all.

I've heard from someone who's been in contact with TomTom support that they're now aware of the doubled-up POI issue, and that apparently it's fairly widespread. (Weird that no one on here has reported it.)

Are you sure that you are not viewing two sets of POIs, the petrol stations in the standard POI file and the petrol stations from the petrol pricing?

Further to my earlier post regarding the map corrections extension being blown away for an advert from TomTom, I now have the definitive answer from them by email today:

'The function caused numerous problems so we have removed it from the program, the details you want cannot be viewed any more.'

I certainly found it most useful, now I will never know how many, if any, corrections have been downloaded or how up to date the map is likely to be.

Cheers again, TomTom.

When I first connect my 720 I get the number of corrections showing. After updating it shows "Newer versions of your map are available" instead, but if you really want to know how many corrections have been installed you could disconnect the TT, then reconnect it again.

Does Home not behave in this way with your TT?

Sounds like TT Customer Services are talking complete rubbish again....

Here's a screenshot from my PC of the latest version, taken just a minute ago...
