[quote="AndyVaughan"]Have you tried replacing the tmccodes.dat and traffic.dat files?

I've just had a look at these files in the new map and they were both 0kb in size. Copied them over from the backup I made before updating the map and HD traffic is now working!
Thanks very much for the advice.

I can't believe that TomTom have been unable to come up with the answer. Once again thanks for the help.

Has anyone sorted out the issue with TomTom Live HD Traffic yet Question

No, and the latest from Tomtom is an obviously cut-and-pasted email with instructions for fixing ""getting stuck on the voice selection", which is a problem I do not have!! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Try AndyVaughan's suggestion it worked for my 540.

Another satisfied customer!

I am concerned that people are using the tmccodes.dat and traffic.dat files from backups - potentially they could be different if they are from a different map version.

The safest route would be to extract the two files from your new map download just in case.

Andy, you'll have to indulge me with an idiot's guide to this procedure. I can find the latest map as a .zip file on my Mac, but I can't unzip it for some reason?

For whatever reason, the default Archive Utility on OS X (the thing that runs when you click on a zip file) doesn't want to extract the map archive.

You have several options, though.

You can just open a Terminal and go to the directory where the downloaded map is located, and then use the "unzip" command on the command line to extract the archive.

Or, you can get yourself a 3rd party tool to extract .zip and other archive files. The one that I use is called The Unarchiver, and it's quite powerful (and free):

I have a similar problem with unzipping the speed camera database on my Mac. I find StuffIt Expander does the job.

Personally, I would suggest removing the FuelStationsEU files and store them safely somewhere on your computer (NOT anywhere near your existing TT files though) and see what happens.

Well, that wasn't it. :(

I tried removing the files (after making a backup, of course), and I still get duplicate (and triplicate) Petrol Stations.

A poster on another forum claims that he "solved" the issue by replacing his poi.dat file with one from a backup made before he updated his map.

Of course, I'd prefer not to do that! Having duplicated POIs isn't really a show-stopper, so I'll just report the problem to TomTom and live with it for now.

I am left wondering whether anyone else has the same issue, though…?

Well maybe this isn't the same problem for me. I have unzipped the latest map, and found traffic.dat to be 4K and tmccodes.dat to be 6.4MB. Confused

Am I supposed to copy the older versions of the files from the last map or backup over? And do I have to re-zip it?

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here. Any chance of a step-by-step instruction for this fix?

I've just arrived at work and whilst HD traffic is working the touch screen, calculating of route etc is very, very slow. I only changed the tmccodes.dat and traffic.dat files(From a backup) I guess these must be the cause. I would agree with AndyVaughan's point, I'll copy them over from the new map when I get home tonight.
Thanks again

That sounds about right.

Nonono, you take the two files that you've just extracted from the .zip, and copy them to the map directory on your device. The end.

In other words, instead of taking the old versions of those two files from a backup and copying them onto your device, just copy the new ones that came in the new map's .zip.

(There are the ones that are presumably supposed to be installed with the new map. Why they end up as being zero-length after going through the by-the-book update procedure is anyone's guess.)

I hope the above explains things a little better. If it's still confusing, I'll happily do a step-by-step! :)

Sorry if this has deviated from the main topic but thanks to all for the suggestions re "entering quotes"

Only problem now is choosing which one to use!

Thanks, wjv, that's just what I needed to understand, and the fix has (apparently) worked perfectly! Cool
