|
|
all
Either my daugther ( 4 ) has been pressing buttons on my TomTom or there is sommat wrong with map or i dunno what...
However/
On the london A12 at junction 18 i wish to exit the road and turn right onto the A414...However my TomTom wants me to turn left at the roundabout and then do a U turn and then drive back along the A414 crossing over the A12 and onto my destination...
Curious as the first roundabout is just that...and i can turn right there...so i am confused as to why it would want me to turn left and then do a U turn.
So is there an option i can check...
I did remove all the mapshare updates and it is still the same....
Hope

It seems to be ok for me, can you just confirm you mean the junction here.. N51.720, E0.528
Ive tried it going Eastbound turning right going to Danbury, and West(London)bound turning right towards Great Baddow.
What map version / navcore you using?

Yup thats the correct location....for some reason if i come off at that junction....then it wants to turn me left onto the A414 and then U turn me and back on the A414.......why cant i do a right at the roundabout...
Map is v835.2420 united kingdom and republic of ireland..
Navcore ? app 8.010 os 190943
hope you can help |

You can stop beating your daughter up (unless she sneaked into my house while I wasn't looking) because my 720 does the same, unless I select Shortest Route! Is it a very congested roundabout, where turning right could take longer than the U-turn option? _________________ Anita

Its a quiet roundabout.....I dont have the RDS-TMC adapter in it or Traffic set up...so how would it know if the roundabout is busy ?
surely its better to turn right...than go left and do a U turn ? |

Maybe it's just the way the algorithm used to calculate Fastest Route works, but Shortest Route gives a right turn at the roundabout. _________________ Anita

IQ Routes uses historical data to ascertain the fastest route, not current conditions. _________________ Anita

strange very strange..
Cant see how turning left then going about 100 yards and doing a U turn and then back 100 yards can be faster than simply doing a right turn at said roundabout....
good job i dont follow its instructions to the letter |

Hi
You can check if it is IQRoutes by turning it off and recalculating the route, if you go to Change Preferences then move through until you see Planning Preferences, click that then select the IQ Routes button bottom left and disabled.
Let us know if it was that.
Best Regards

It doesn't need to be related to IQ routes - It's more likely to be an error in the map itself. Each section of road has a time to drive associated with it. If this time is incorrect, then the routing algorithm will find what it thinks is a quicker route.
Using Shortest Route to calculate won't take the road times into consideration. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

This only appears to only be a UK&ROI map problem when set to navigate using the Fastest Route [notice Anita also has a UK&ROI map :o) ]
I don't seem to be able to replicate the problem with WE v8.35 map.
Can anyone else?
Its certainly interesting why it does this.... _________________ TomTom 700 GO user since Dec 2005.
