|
|
Hello all, my unit - TT One V2. Running with quite an old map of western Europe with your speed cams. Works well. Recently bought a new map - GB and Ire. and downloaded the latest cam update added to both maps. I've only got the cams showing on the old map. and cant get them to show on the new. Added poi's etc but no joy. What an I doing wrong here?
Any help much appreciated. |

Do you have separate folders for each map? If so, you need to copy the Speed Camera database into both map folders. |

Yes, thats what I've done. I think! Does the updated cams issued weekly contain everything needed for the new map or will I need a full install of the Gpsworld cams for the new map? |

You'll need a copy of the ov2 and bmp files in both map folders. To get to the UK+Ire map, you'll need to go through the "change map" preference setting then set up the alerts etc for the new map. After it's done the once for the new map, you shouldn't have to do it again (apart from copying the new ov2 files each week).
Can you at least see them on the list of POIs when you go through the "show on map" procedure? _________________ Gerry

AliOnHols, He'll need both camera sets in whatever set he wants to use as the Western Europe map includes both the UK and Ireland. The EUR set would be needed in the UK+Ire map for the Irish cameras.
Even if it's an old Europe map, it will probably be fine for the odd journey onto mainland Europe for holidays etc.
Personally, I'd set up all of them in both maps to stop unexpected problems later. _________________ Gerry

GerryC, just re-thinking my previous, now self-removed, post through. If 125gearbox, downloaded the UK speedcams and placed them into his new UK and ROI map folder and then downloaded and installed the EUR speedcams and placed them into his OLD Europe map folder it should work fine apart from when 125gearbox is the ROI?.
If not and as "United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland" is the most basic UK map you can obtain from TT, shouldn't everyone be downloading and installing both GB and EUR databases onto their UK & ROI SatNavs?
EDIT - Assuming when in the UK gearbox uses the new Uk map and when in Europe he uses the old Europe map. & Spelling corrected(ish). _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Gear Box,
I had a similar problem with my GO920 when updating the maps.
I quickly realised that when reinstalling the new maps, all the TT POIs had been reinstalled. As TT can only display up to 100 POI categories and the UK and Europe camera database (speed zoned) contains approximately 80 POI categories, you may have problems getting them all displayed.
To help, I went through them and deleted all the TT supplied POIs (using delete POI category in the Manage POIs option) and everything worked again. _________________ Steveee

AliOnHols and 125gearbox, my thinking is mainly due to normally driving in the UK and Ireland where I would need both sets on my current map.
125gearbox, this may look like it's getting complicated - really it isn't. Whichever map you want to use for the UK, put the UK cameras in. Whichever you want for mainland Europe, put the EUR set in. Whichever for Ireland, the EUR set.
Part of the problem is that it's so customisable that we can make things too complicated for ourselves. You just do as much as you want to. _________________ Gerry

I've split the extra conversation that was going on here regarding camera warning settings to Settings for camera warnings - split topic just to stop confusion with two conversations going on at once.

Quote: | Step 5. Display POIs on your TomTom GO
Finally, to enable POIs in your TomTom GO select them in your POI categories:
Change Preferences | Manage (or Maintain) POI | Enable / Disable POI
Select POI
They now are displayed on your GO screen in both 3D maps and 2D maps.
Even if you do not display POIs on screen, you can now "navigate to" your Poi’s, find POIs near your location, etc.
Step 6. Set up Proximity Alerts (optional)
Change Preferences | Manage (or Maintain) POI | Warn when near POI
Select each POI in turn,
Select the distance for warning
Select the warning sound
Uncheck the "Warn only if POI is on route" box
Repeat until all POIs are set up to warn. |
The quote is from the appropriate section of FAQ's on this site upon how to setup up GPS camera warnings it seems to clearly state that they are setup as POI's. |

EricWB - Please read the post above. The discussion of Alerts has been split to another thread. |

Thanks for all the replies guys, what I have found is that to enable the speed cams to be displayed on screen (together with voice warnings) then you have to go through the 'warn when near poi's' process for all the different cams. I didnt realise this had to be done to even show them on screen. Not getting voice warnings for specs cams though just audible alert. But it's all up and running now so thanks again. |
