Sorry, does the XL IQ have a card slot? If so, why not copy the proper backup to SD card and try running from that (I've no experience of the XL, regarding SD card slot and performance, so this suggestion may be garbage). _________________ Dennis

No card slot - which is a pain. TT Support suggest a complete format of the internal memory and then reinstalling my cut and pasted backup. AT the moment it is struggling to even format!! |

Yes, format then copy and paste seems the only solution. You need a complete copy/pasted backup. If you're sure you have the map downloaded, you've not lost that at least. _________________ Dennis

Hi
I do have the map downloaded - but when it is cut and pasted into the TT - will it need activating?
Are their better and more reliable sat navs then TT out there? |

It shouldn't need activating - that's old hat now, the map is locked to your device as it downloads and works without activation. _________________ Dennis

BUT, (sorry) you don't copy and paste it, you use Home to add maps from your PC. _________________ Dennis

Oh that's good - thanks. Out of interest though do other sat navs have as many problems as TT? |

Anita has never had any problems with her TT.
On a forum like this it's logical to assume you'll see complaints and faults - the people with no problems have little or no need to post here. Search and I'm sure you'll find problems reported here on all the other satnavs. It may be that you see more TT problems because it's such a widely used device. _________________ Dennis

Thanks Dennis - wise and sensible words! It is still formatting. I will leave it overnight to do that and hope I can then reinstall a clean backup (cut and paste one) I am going on me hols tomorrow and want my TT with me! |

Fingers crossed. I wouldn't have the nerve to go to bed whilst it tried formatting, I'd have to stay there watching. (and I actually have stayed up watching!). _________________ Dennis

If it is taking that long to format, I'm afaid you have a serious hardware issue.
However, if it indeed does format, you may want to check this link for instructions to install the map **without** using Home. _________________ David |

Installed latest map then my traffic subscription stopped working.
Could log on to TT server & get weather forecast but Traffic was not showing in "My Services"
Down graded to a back up version (just deleted Western Europe folder) then copied backup.
Everything working ok now
I've reported the Traffic issue to TT just wait for the reply now.
If they don't come back with a fix soon could be claiming a refund _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

After half the night doing a complete internal disk format (as per TT support instructions) I am now trying to install the complete back up to the TT - it says 12 hours to go!!!!
I just copied the same entire folder to a USB stick to make sure it was not my PC and it took 5 minutes!!
Must be the TT memory!!
Off to the repairers it will go! and out comes the reliable Navman F20 for my hols |

I've admitted defeat and done the same. Couldn't wait for a fix from TomTom when I've got to travel this weekend. Used Home to restore my last backup, which is v830.2305, and everything is working again.
I've supplied TomTom with the information they've asked for, and we'll see what they come back with.
I agree that if it isn't fixed within a few days, we should start agitating for a free extension to our HD Traffic subscriptions!! |
