Firstly hello to everyone, I have a new Garmin Nuvi 255W I have registered it, and it comes up that there are no updates available, so I take it my unit has the latest maps and speed cameras. Would this also mean that the speed cameras are up to date for Europe? as I am going to Portugal in a few weeks,
Also when I put it on to Portugal Map will the speed cameras come on automatically as they do when driving in the UK or do I have to find them an enable them? Sorry this is long winded I have been using Navman F40 for sometime and knew what to do

Are you subscribed to a Speed Camera Service? They cost extra! Garmin's is £29pa and ours £19.99. _________________ Darren Griffin |

And of course, cost is not the only reason for choosing ours. It's better |

I understand that but as it is brand new thought I could possibly get a few months use before purchasing, your reply didnt actually answer my question |

1. On my 255WT I press Tools - Settings - Proximity Points - Proximity Alerts Change. I have the PGPSW database installed, so I tick the box for Custom POIs and untick the box for Garmin Safety Cameras (to avoid duplicate warnings).
2. To see which of the Garmin cameras are installed, I press Tools - Settings - System - About - Extras and Safety Cameras. This lists all the countries.
3. If the Garmin box at 1. above is ticked, then all the Garmin camera warnings operate automatically. If you have installed the PGPSW database for (say) UK and EU, then they will also all operate automatically, if you have the Custom POIs box ticked at 1. above.
You can check all this by having a trial run abroad with the GPS Simulator turned on.
