I just succeeded to register on the French website and to download the database so it appears it is now working (again).

I noticed with interest the posts on the previous page about satnav cameras being ok - thought they weren't so missed having them in France recently. Can anyone confirm please that the position is still the same as in AndyP's post of 2006? Also, given how vigorous the gendarmerie can be, would it be worth carrying a copy of the Minister's statement, to curb their enthusiam? With (very) limited french it could be a bit difficult to retrieve the situation satisfactorily if they just break the satnav or disappear with it stashed in their car!

Still OK and not heard any reports of them being in any way interested in nav devices.

HV jackets on the other hand ...... keep 'em IN the car, in the boot is not acceptable as you have to don them before you exit the car.

Thanks very much Darren. And I do have HVs in the car. But, judging from the number of broken-down/taken-short people I saw on the autoroutes this month, it seems, as always, to be a case of, as the French (might) say
