One last thing... Returning to my car for my return journey, I positioned my cradle in landscape, secured my iPhone and I remember then thinking I needed to find a logical location for the app on the springboard, as the phone was landscape and I found myself working at a 90 degree angle - no biggie, but the recollection proves to me that I didn't suffer the orientation issue Darren had - it started up in landscape no problem.
I know that from time to time my iPhone struggles to 'sense' landscape and wonder if the reported issue wasn't unrelated to copilot - it certainly performed as expected for me today. I'll report back if this was just luck! _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

I raised a query with alk about why the backlight seems to vary in intensity.
Their response was that they don't dim the screen so its either the iphone's power settings or my power dock (which is a griffin roadtrip).
I guess what should be happening is that the software should be temporarily disabling autolock while running and docked, and re-enabling it afterwards, right?
Edit: Or maybe it's something to do with auto-brightness. Will try to narrow it down tonight.

Cost per mile can be set under menu / plan or edit trip / options / fuel costs.
No traffic yet. The traffic option is dimmed out under the live services, which, hopefully, means it will be coming.

I got the impression from their site that traffic was a subscription at additional cost for other platforms.
Anyone know how if you can edit the Roadside Assistance from AA to some other number?
I can't find an online manual yet - only one for CoPilot Live 7

I was told this morning that they might put in something that will make the voice instructions easier to hear over ipod music in the next update. It clearly can be done, as navigon and roadee have solutions for it.

Found this app to be worth every penny so far.
I look forward to keyboard update and the addition of speed cameras but want to use PGPS cams without jail braking…

went ahead and bought it this morning. Very impressed with the load speed and customisation. Nice big buttons (most of the time), and a very clear display.
One quick question. On lane guidance, I did a quick demo going to Southampton, and yes a small guidance graphic came up (a few arrows, with two of them yellow) at the top of the screen when approaching a turn off. I thought this app also had a display which simulated the motorway sign as well ? |

The backlight issue seems to be ok today on the run I did
The route it chose to get me there was OK but the return route was not the same ? even though any other sat nav I have had would simply reverse the route
Similar issue to that which bedbug was having by the sound of it. One of the reasons I do not like navigon is because of daft route decisions
At least with this app you can fine tune the route preferances so I will take a look at this
Where I live there are a lot of fast empty country roads which make a lot more sense in using rather than the "main" roads. My 3 yr old igo and tt software make good use of these roads. The navigon and maybe the copilot seem to have preferance to main roads

I noticed you can create a new routing profile that says how much you like or dislike different types of roads, and what speeds you'll drive on them.
Additionally, you've got the different types of routing... fastest shortest, economical, avoidng expressways etc.
I think the default is economical.
I wonder if the backlight issue only happens at dusk/night. Just a theory.

I have got PGPSW speed cams working on iPhone Copilot, and the software seems great - I finally broke and had to buy it instead of waiting for TomTom.
I have a jailbroken 3G and used 'IPhone browser' to load the csv files. It seems a bit buggy installing them (copilot froze at the loading screen whilst 'integrating the update' and I had to cancel it a few times but eventually it loaded it all). They need to be dropped into /User/Applications/14c33332-5f3c-442b-9fbb-1d3b93dfc9d7/Documents/EU/save
If you want to remove them they are imported into a subfolder of the above - /user_places/pocketgps_uk_gatso for example (one folder per csv). |
