I have just bought a Garmin Nuvi 255W, On reading the forums It has been recommended that I register the unit at Garmin, however every time I try it comes up with the message E mail invalid.
Do I need to have unit connected by usb cable to register it?
I have read that it can take afew hours to update this is the reason that I havent connected it yet as I havent the time to leave it updating today, just in case i get any messages come up while i`m not here.
thanks Rick |

I don't remember having to connect the satnav. Is yours brand new? If it's secondhand/refurbished there may be an existing registration on it, in which case you would need to provide Garmin with proff of purchase to re-register it in your name. _________________ David

I think Garmin want you to create an account where all your present units and future units are listed.
https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/marketing/register.htm
They then want you to register a unit to your account online.
Then your account will show when each unit was switched on [and obtained a fix for the first time]!
From time to time people have found that their 'new' unit was switched on before they bought it and registered by other people.
Therefore you have to go to Garmin to transfer ownership.
If it was used prior to you switching it on - you may not have a 'new' unit and the warranty may be shorter! _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600
