I have just had another reply from Navigon about battery life - this must be their left hand speaking:

I bet it's quite a lot of moments for start-up!

I bet it's quite a lot of moments for start-up!

This also seems to work on the 2100max (but press the reset hole after holding down the power button for 10 secs). Unfortunately PCI-Warner seems to lose the GPS (Serilot) setting so I don't think I will be using this option much!

No problem on the 8310 with POI-Warner after a full switch off. I was also pleasantly surprised by the speed of start up.
