I have just had another reply from Navigon about battery life - this must be their left hand speaking:

To switch of your device press the power button for approx. 10 seconds and the reset button at the same time. Then then unit turn off completly, this way is different from information you can find in manuals but it is the right way to switch of your device. Restart may take a moment longer then a start from standby mode.
I bet it's quite a lot of moments for start-up! _________________ David

This also seems to work on the 2100max (but press the reset hole after holding down the power button for 10 secs). Unfortunately PCI-Warner seems to lose the GPS (Serilot) setting so I don't think I will be using this option much!

No problem on the 8310 with POI-Warner after a full switch off. I was also pleasantly surprised by the speed of start up. _________________ David
