Purchasing TomTom XL in USA

Hi

I looking to purchase a TT XL to use on holiday in Florida. Are the XL UK and US versions the same except for the maps? Just trying to decide whether to buy it in duty free on the way out (I already have a USA map) or buy one over there.

I don't know where or how you got the USA map but I don't see how it would work in a unit bought in the States. (or even another one bought in Europe).

Also, the US XL models are 330, 330S, 340 and 340S. The European XL models don't have those designations.

The "S" appended to the model name denotes Speech or rather Text To Speech where the device can read out the road name, this feature is not available on the European XL range AFAIK - Mike

The USA map was purchased from the TomTom UK website and downloaded to a SD card.

Think I'll play safe and get it at duty free. This makes sense for warranty purposes as well.

The latest XL models have internal memory only , no SD slot . Mine has 2GB of internal memory with UK and RoI IQ Routes
