You HAVE got a route planned? You don't get traffic info if you haven't. _________________ Dennis

That sounds like it may be a dodgy RDS-TMC unit, although I suppose it's possible there were no traffic problems at all anywhere on your route - bit unlikely, for Edinburgh to London, though! Are you saying you've got the green disk top right and the traffic information bar on the right, but just no indication of traffic problems?

DOH! I'm lost. You could ask TomTom (0845 161 0009) or it might be better to wait for MikeAlder or someone else clever to spot this. _________________ Dennis

If anything its probably dodgy data, the RDS system does take time for incidents to build up and get flagged, then they need loading to the server prior to the broadcast by the local area transmitter (radio station) - At times you can sit in a queue and see nothing on the device its not unusual.
Live HD traffic is better, but remember no traffic system will ever work 100%, they are good for an indication of problems ahead and when the motorway gantry signs agree with the TomTom/ Garmin RDS-TMC then I use the avoid traffic function, otherwise I simply ignore the data on the device - Mike |

Edinburgh to London Mike? Not even any narrow lanes? I'm not worried about him getting nothing for his immediate traffic jam, like you say, they never get those on or off quick enough. But somewhere there would surely have been roadworks in that trip? _________________ Dennis

RDS is regional data so you won't see traffic issues South of Lancaster from Edinburgh, and unless there was an incident on Route between current location and Lancaster (not unusual to see no problems on this route).
The other possible reason could be down to a server issue where no data is being transmitter, the carrier is live so you get the green ball but no incidents shown. Try tapping the Traffic side bar then Browse Map, zoom out and see if there are any traffic incidents displayed on the map, these will show up even if they are not on your route.
As you drive South the regional feed changes automatically so you information specfic to the region you are in/ approaching, from Blackpool I can see North to Carslile and South to around Stafford when using RDS - Mike |
