Driving 220 miles to Edinburgh tomorrow

Are you going up the east coast via Newcastle? If so, be prepared for some delays around the Angel of the North. Major roadworks for the next 3 weeks! You will see the Average Speed Cameras on the DB where the works are going on!

Just a friendly heads up! Smile

Thanks, I will give it a go tomorrow as will be passing there around 10am but if I am routing that way in rush hours I might do the M74/M6/A66/A1 route. It is only about 5 miles longer from point to point so handy to have a 80% different route available.

Of course I will only go this way if advised to do so by my "trusty" 940!!

Have you got HD traffic on? The delays during the day are ok, going north bound it is between 10-20 mins during the day.

http://www.tomtom.com/hdtraffic/?region=Newcastle

That will show you whats going on. Currently the major delays are going south bound as the A1 is temporarily down to 1 lane! The HD traffic is picking it all up very well!

Hope this helps.

BTW I got a new Kate downloaded at the same time. Did anyone else get that?

I have a 740 Live and when I used Home to update it to this version it does not startup, it just keeps rebooting any ideas guys on what could be the cause.
Good job I have a spare card that I tried it on first. Why can't TT get it right with updates instaed of wreaking havoc with our units.

Try this:

Connect your unit to Home. Start the emulator (Operate My Go).

Manage favorites--add 1 favorite (or delete just one you might have).

Close the emulator. Disconnect the unit PROPERLY from the computer (Home's Device--Disconnect)

Start up your 740. Okay now?

HenryMitchell:-

No new Kate for me either.

Will see today if the screen flicker problem has been cured by this update.

I was offered, and downloaded, Kate for my 720 last night, I assume it's a new version since I already had her on my device.

So it doesn't seem to be associated with the new navcore.

For which device a 940 or 540/ 740 as there are two different versions, this Navcore is only intended for use on the x40 devices, putting it on a different device could brick it - Mike

Thanks Mike I have a 720 and have been using Navcore v8.350 for months with no problems. I thought I would try the new update v8.370 Rolling Eyes I alway's back up before installing new software etc.

Batties, Let us know how you get on with this.
I'm currently running x40 8.204 version of the app with 8.15 maps on my 720 and it's been working just fine for the last 7 months.. (I don't use gprs or the Jukebox function, I do use the unit with my Nokia as Handsfree on a Ad-Hoc basis)

Would be interested to find out if anyone has tried this new x40 8.370 version of the app on a 720 yet.

Sure would be more than happy to report back my findings Devastator (when I find the Navcore 8.370 download link). I can not use home for obvious reasons as my device is not compatible!
I really like the fresh icons you get with Navcore 8 and find my map and voices appear to be more stable? - I don't think I will be reverting back to the standard Navcore you get with the 720 . I do have all the backups on my PC though just in case the 720 does "brick" going forward.

Delete the "MapSettings.cfg" file in your current map folder and the device should boot normally creating a new (empty) MapSettings.cfg file. You will lose some POI Warning settings and your Home location and any Favourites stored on th edevice if you do this.

The issue with Favourites being lost due to map updates and software updates every couple of months is why I only ever use custom POI files to store locations that are important to me, Favourites have a very limitted capability if they get wiped out every month or two! - Mike
