A single device with phone/network/navigation, and a large enough screen, speaker, integrated GPS/compass is clearly a better solution than a standalone PND (in my humble opinion...).
If TomTom can't see the writing on the wall for their PND strategy then they're blind. (By this I mean their discontinuation of map availability for PocketPC users... because they don't like the fact that the s/w gets pirated... regardless of the fact that this has made no difference!)
Mind you - I guess they're exploring this space with the iPhone app. It's just a pity that they're ignoring the PocketPC market (and screwing loyal customers such as me), and don't seem to be interested in the Android space.
As HTC have just announced that they're planning to switch half of their models to Android - I suspect we're going to start to see a much greater market-share for Android - which I believe is going to be the only worthy competition for the iPhone over the next couple of years.

Well, TomTom _DID_ make a half hearted attempt at easing the pain for Pocket PC users by releasing the latest app (7.9x anyway) and maps for purchase.
Android was a no-go until they dropped their stupid "Java Machine Only" restriction and are now allowing native apps too. TomTom wouldn't have run under an emulation. _________________ Lutz
I'm thinking of selling my Tomtom as my mobile is more than enough for what I want. Turn by turn, voice commands, slips in your pocket, up to date maps, FM transmitter inc voice directions, built in hands free, auto answer etc, etc.
