Can anyone provide any POI files for me that provide details of greenlanes, off road locations, BOATS or similar byways that I can legally take my 4*4 along for some offroading? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Budget Obligation Analysis and Tracking System. Must try harder, Andy - pretty obvious, really - the guy is talking about offroading - tracking?. _________________ Dennis

Yes, offroading as above. Byways open to all traffic as stated above. |

Thanks! (That's something I've learnt today)
I just tried to submit it to the Acronym finder, but they told me it was already in there.
It was... but only as "BOAT" not "BOATS" |

If you're in the UK, then you could try looking at the GLASS (Green Lane Association) website.
Following on from a link on GLASS's website, you might want to look at the TrailWise (National Catalogue of Rights of Way) website, which looks like you can download waypoints for rights of ways.
Please let us know how you get on with the above websites.

Could you submit them for inclusion here?
From the "Submit POIs" page:
Quote: | Submit a POI file
Email any new POI files to POIs@pocketgpsworld.com suggesting names for the Category and Subcategory to be used. Remember that all submitted files must be free of any copyright restrictions. Text files in the following format are preferred
longitude,latitude,"Title","Details"
where both the longitude and latitude values are in decimal degrees. For example -0.78707,51.23793,"Heath End","97 Farnborough Road, Farnham, Surrey GU9 9AL 01252 123456" |
But I'm sure Oldboy would be happy with a TomTom .ov2 file too. |

ov2 files are acceptable, but Oldie handles the email side of things. _________________ Richard

I stumbled across a couple of ov2 files on a land rover forum. I think the person that created them used a membership to GLASS to extract the data, from which he created the ov2.
However, I don't profess to know exactly the method used, why there are two files, how accurate they are, or whether they are copywrited.
I'll submit them. _________________ Tom Tom 1005 v2 World, Garmin Dakota 20, IPhone 4S |
