|
|
I have been driving around Cornwall (based in Redruth area for my summer hols!) for the last week or so and have received good TMC reception until a couple of days ago. Now I can't seem to pick up the signal at all.
I have a Garmin nuvi 765T and I am wondering if I have broken something or it is a transmitter problem.
Anyone else having problems?
Cheers,
mdsanso |

Probably not the reason, but there's an MOD site at Portreath where they sometimes run GPS-jamming trials. _________________ Anita

I went down to Camborne on Monday and didn't have any problem - TomTom device, which I suppose uses a different TMC source? _________________ Dennis

Sorry, mdsanso, I didn't notice you were talking about TMC and, remembering the occasional GPS-jamming in the area, assumed it was the GPS signal you were losing! _________________ Anita

@Anita: We are actually staying near Portreath and can see the aerials and radar dome from our windows. But as you say, this would be GPS related not TMC.
@DennisN: I think it was working OK for me on Monday (drove from Portreath to Looe). It was Tuesday/Wednesday that I first noticed it was no longer working.
Still nothing today (Friday). Anyway, heading home to Scotland tomorrow - will see if I pick up anything on the long journey home!
Thanks for the info.

OK, so set off on Saturday morning and got a clear TMC signal as we left Portreath. So, nothing wrong with the SatNav and looks like the signal is back up and running again.
Thanks all.

Mdsanso, you said you're going back to Scotland. Could you possibly report whether you get any traffic info for edinburgh, like a720 or a90, on your garmin sat nav; is it marked in green, yellow, red or does it not appear at all? Mines is not showing any info for Edinburgh - see my post in the Garmin section. Thanks very much. |
