When navigating, does landscape mode work both ways - whether you turn the phone clockwise or anticlockwise?

All four possible positions are usable, even upside down so I guess it would work in Australia (no cricket jokes even if we did scrape a draw), there is a slight pause after the rotation while the screen redraws, probably only half a second or so - Mike

It looks very much like Sygic/McGuider then so should be easy for existing users to migrate across. Does it include a version number (wondering if Sygic are using the same version numbers as the other mobile families or starting fresh with the Iphone)?

It is very close to the PDA application that I have used with a few bells and whistles, it seems decent enough for the short distance trips I have tried it with today

Does this look like something you recognise?

Looks like they are keeping to the same version scheme as the other mobile products then - just different build numbers. The program version and map version are the same as the current WM build so I would expect it to operate very similar to the copy MaFt reviewed on WM a month or so back. Will be interesting to hear what is different though.

Hmmm - thanks for all the info Mike, was just getting ready to download - despite an under 1meg conection meaning will take 6-8 hours overnight jobby, not like lucky b******s with all this amazing cable and stuff - and then noted on iTunes Store that someone reckons they've got the dreaded #8003 today! Unless it's someone from TT or Navigon stirring . . .

Guess I'll see what tomorrow brings . . .

G'night, Mike

Mike
Any chance of a screen shot showing the lane assist please? Is it as good as the Navigon with the signposting?

Here you go, at 2,5 miles out you get the signpost information, this is one of the busier signposts so it takes up quite a bit of display:

And when you get closer to the junction the Lane Assist appears:

Does that Blue bar on top of the bottom info box denote how much of your set journey you have done?

Having just had a short (ish) drive around Blackpool I got warnings for nine of the eight cameras I drove at, the one extra warning was for a camera removed from the roadside about six months ago.
So the fixed camera positions installed with the application look good from an initial dip check.

Is there any indication of how Sygic will handle camera updates, or even if they will?

Thanks for that Mike, looks alot more advanced than Navigon ,do you think they will bring out UK only ? as i don't think I will be going further afield ,not in my car anyway.

Unofficially, watch the App store over the next few weeks. I understand there is a UK/IRL specific release going through approval at the moment. No idea on costs or anything like that yet though.

If you have questions that you want to put to a Sygic spokesperson about Mobile Maps please post them in this thread.
