|
|
My 760 has recently developed a problem. The touch screen is no longer properly aligned. When clicking towards the left hand side of the screen, the position selected is off to the right. Using the keyboard, this error causes it to select the key on the right of the one I touched.
I'm not sure when this started, but I think it may be fairly recently. (about two weeks?) I normally download any upgrade offered as soon as they are available, so I'm not sure if this has been caused by an upgrade or just something that has happened to my particular unit.
I've looked for any means of re-aligning the screen but can not find any such facility. I have also done a master reset (boot while pressing bottom right hand corner) but nothing has changed and the screen is still wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas? (or better still, a solution?) _________________ Nuvi 760T, Software version 4.80,

There is a way of doing a re-alignment. But I cannot remember how. I read it on a Garmin web site somewhere when I had my 765T. Try www.gpspassion.com and search through there.

There is a bit of a nack to it though...
Turn the nuvi off and then back on. Slide the power key to the right(lock). Hold your finger on the screen for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions |

I seem to be missing the 'knack'
I can not get the configuartion screen to come up. Could you be a little more specific?
How far do I let it boot up before I slide the power key to the right?
At what point do I put (and hold) my finger on the screen?
All I get is being told that the thing is locked and that I should unlock it. I think have tried it every which way, but the 'knack' so far is eluding me.
Thanks for the help, so far. _________________ Nuvi 760T, Software version 4.80,

Hi M8
Start with the unit switched off. Move the slider to the left to turn it on. Immediately move it to the right, this means into the lock position.
At all times hold a finger in the middle of the screen. According to the Garmin manual, this can take up to 1 minute, mine took about 30 seconds.
You will never see the normal main menu screen where you can choose to display the map etc. If you get to that point, you "missed" it.
You should see a white screen with a dot to press, which is repeated several time to make the alinement's.

and use a small plastic implement, not your finger, to calibrate.

Sucess!
It worked. But I only got to the calibration screen when I used a small plastic implement to press on the screen. Using a finger never worked. (Fingers too fat?)
Now re-calibrated and problem solved. Thank you all. _________________ Nuvi 760T, Software version 4.80,
