Just updated to new map and now have lost all poi catrgories home and favourites. According to Home they are still on the device but not shown in navigate to.
How can I get to see them all again. Dont really want to do a restore as it took ages to download the new map.
Thanks guys

Try copying the mapsettings.cfg file from a previous backed up map folder to the updated map folder and see if they return.
That's why many here suggest you download PoiEdit from poiedit.com, load your mapsettings.cfg file (where you'll see all your favourites listed) and for each fav listed, make it a point for a custom poi category you'll create such as _my_favourites. And then you can simple copy the _my_favourites.ov2 file from one map to an updated map, along with all your other custom .ov2 files.
Why the _ in front of the name?
That allows for your custom file to 'float' to the top when you're scrolling through poi categories. _________________ David |

Here are a couple of icons you can use for your favourites. Make sure you give them the same name as the poi you create.
22 x 22
44 x 44
Just Right Click and Save Picture As....
You may be able to save them in .bmp format when you Save Picture As..
from the dropdown menu.
If not you will need to change them to .bmp file format in your paint program, as they are in .jpg as displayed above. |

No-one's mentioned how to get the POI categories back yet.
Basically they should have been copied from the old map folder to the new one, but Home often fails to do it.
You need to do it manually, by copying all the files ending in .ov2 and .bmp from a backup of the old map folder into the new map folder.
If Home is saying it can still see them, can you interrogate it to find WHERE it is seeing them?
MaPSettings.cfg contains your Favourites and Home location etc. but there are often problems copying it from the old map folder to the new one if you have also updated the system software at the same time. That's why people are suggesting you convert the Favourites into a POI category before you update a map. |

I sort of implied it, Andy......I guess not as clear as I should have been. _________________ David |
