Hi,

I work for a small company doing deliveries. We currently use Autoroute to plan our routes. We have a list of postcodes, which are plotted from excel into Autoroute and then the maps are printed of onto paper - lots of paper!

We really need sat nav but don't want to lose the ability to find and plan routes using postcodes. I have a couple of questions:

1) Can you get a GPS setup on a PDA with PocketStreets, which will give a realtime driving instructions?

2) It appears that a kit such as TomTom and the Hp 2210 works well. But will this work from Postcodes?

3) Does autoroute integrate with any other package other than Pocket Streets?

What you think would be best you me?

Thanks,

James

Hi James, wecome to the forums.

1) PocketStreets is the PDA version of AutoRoute, it will give you real time positioning on a basic map but it will not give you driving instructions or directions.

2) TomTom is ideal in your situation as it will plan a route, give voice and visual directions and with the PostcodeLocator add-on software you can simply tap in a UK post code and navigate directly to it.

3)AutoRoute will not integrate with any other software. If you want to use AutoRoute then you will either need a laptop with GPS connected or PocketStreets on a PDA but there is no voice guidance with either.

Okay - so Autoroute and Pocketstreets does not sound right for me.

Tomtom sounds good. Where do I download a copy of PostCodeLocator?

Also, does Tomtom have a have a desktop version? I am hoping that someone can organise a delivery trip on the desktop and then download it to the PDA. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help!

The PostCode locater can be found here:

TomTom does not have a desktop version. Routing is performed on the PDA

Read the TomTom review for further information.
