Tom Tom3 thinking im in a different city ?

i live near birmingham and a local town area is called Shirley, however when i drive through it it shows up as "Shirley (Southampton)"

its certainly not anywhere near the sea Laughing

is this a mapping issue or something else

and can it be corrected ?

Have you downloaded and installed the latest version of TT from their site- v3.03?

Entering Birmingham as city and Shirley as street brings up TT's map showing the point as Stratford Road.

I had this with TT2. I live in New Bradwell, Milton Keynes. Instead of showing Milton Keynes it shows as "Stratford Upon Avon". Was in the correct place on the map though.

Planning route from Shirley Southampton - Shirley Birmingham, 2hrs 16min, 125.2 miles. TT certainly is able to see and find both Shirley's and connect them to there correct Cities.
I can only assume that your problem is another of the places not found bug in V3.01 that has now been correct with V3.03/3.04T

Also entering Shirley Birmingham - my home took me no where near Shirley Southamptom. In the instuction it was A34 Sratford Road - M42 - M40 - A34 - M3 - M27 - A27.

You need to update from3.01 to 3.03, not sure what the error messages are, I just downloaded the .exe file and with the PDA in the cradle, and connected using Activesync, it loaded straight into the PDA.

The part of the place name in brackets that's displayed is often wrong - this has been the case since TomTom Navigator 2 version 2.02. I suspect it's related to a deficiency in the mapping data.

The best advice is to ignore it - it's only a cosmetic bug.
