No TomTom Latest Map On Non TomTom Supplied Refurb Units

Can't see this posted at the moment - but, I just bought a refurb 720 Go from Argos clearence on eBay £135. The maps installed appear to be around 2 years old. When connected via Home you are told map update has expired. £38 for current map and then £38 for a years sub. Returned for full refund as misdescribed as new.
They did have some new 720 for about £20 more, but they have gone now. They still have some new 520 for £138 - ordered one of them
Rang TomTom they confirm you only get latest map on refurb direct from them.

This has cropped up a couple of times. Even TomTom don't seem to know whether the units they are sending out do or don't have the LMG.
And the reatilers don't either. At least one of them changed the wording on their website to remove all mention of the LMG, and then people started finding they still got it.

I had this with a refurb'ed One XL from Morgan computers

it took a couple of emails, but TomTom support acknowledged I should have received the LMG, didn't know why it hadn't worked correctly out of the box and then talked me through the process to re set the unit up correctly - good service by my book.

I'd register and discuss it with them - seem like good people...

I also just bought a refurb TT730 and it stated quite clearly on the box that there was no LMG as it was a refurb. This was NOT mentioned on the Total PDA site. However, I worked out the finances of it all and just did the update but it WAS very annoying. It's such a basic piece of sales info.

Many in NA where refurbs do NOT come with the LMG and haven't for about a year now still DO get it on a case by case basis when calling CS.
