SD Card or Unit Memory Nuvi 250

I have purchased the 2010 Europe maps and I have a 1.6gb GMAPSUPP IMG file on an SD card. This works fine off the sd card but I would prefer to save it to the units memory. Only thing is I only have 5.3MB of memory left. I am worried about deleting the 2008 maps on my Nuvi 250 as I have read somewhere that these files are "datestamped" and am concerned that if I remove the 2008 maps and then want to reinstall them I might have a problem. Also, if it is ok to copy the 2010 maps onto the units memory do I need to rename it?
