Hi I am after a bit of advice please
I have a one V2 Europe my map is old and have concidered a new map
from TT
I can by a GB map for £29 from TT home or it also offers me a map of Europe for £31.80 but I have to take up the offer of map updated for 12 months for another £31.80 total £63.60 I can't have just the map, both by download
My question is if I go for the GB £29 offer from TomTom do I get any map updates?
Do I get lane guidance and map share also?
I have seen a GB map on Amazon Version 8 2009 for £38 GB it says it includes both of the above but am a bit weary of this.
Can anyone give me some guidence?
Regards

Any new map downloaded from TomTom will include Lane Guidance and Mapshare, as long as you've also updated your software to the latest version.
You are right to be wary of the version through Amazon. Maps can generally only be legitimately downloaded using TomTom Home. There has been at least one recent case of a map being offered by an Amazon reseller which was an illegal pirated version. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

You should be able to buy the map alone (without the update service) for both maps....
Strange price you quoted for the Europe map though...
On the TT website, if I select the One 2nd edition, the Western Europe map is currently £44.95, the Western and Central Europe is £54.95 and the UK and Ireland map is £29.95 |

Hasn't he quoted the discounted price for a Europe update, so long as he purchases a further year of updates. I have an idea that was what I paid when I signed up last autumn

Chaps
I get a pop up screen saying my map is 9 segments out of date then it says you can buy a new map for a special price £31.80 when I click buy it then adds the £31.80 for the 12 months update
I can cancel this then i can go to the normal TT map shop and download a selection on maps

Sorry to hijack this thread.
I too am looking to update my map on my 910. I havent updated the map at all since I bought it a couple of years ago.
TT HOME tells me to update to the latest map £35.80 and then get the updates for 1 year, being another £35.80 = £71.
So forgive my slight stupidity, I can download the latest V8.30 maps, without this update as recommended by TT HOME, and just buy straight from the web for £54.95 and this will work?
I dont want to pay £55 and then get told that I need to pay this other £35.80. |

Confirmed.
You CAN just buy a single map without the update service.
However, the pricing of the update service can make it a very attractive offer if you aren't too "out of date" with your existing map; even coming out cheaper to subscribe and get four updates than to buy one map outright in some cases!
The further out of date you are though, the less discount you get, so it becomes less attractive. |

It also means you will have the latest Map, in 12 months time, for only £16.65 _________________ Richard

Thanks for this both of you.
I did realise that I woul get the updated maps for an extra £16.
Here's another question. Its a bit hypothetical I know;
If i got the updated maps for 12 months and then had a break from updating, to save money, how long is the gap before I can update at the cheapest price? If that makes sense.
ATM I am having to pay for an updated map and then I can get the 12 months of updates which would take me until July 2010. If I waited say 1 year, and assuming prices are relativiely the same, could I just pay for updates in say July 2011 or would I have to update the map becfore getting the update.
I am a penny pincher as you can probably tell. |

You always have to have the latest map to subscribe to the update service, so if your map was a quarter out of date you would have to buy the latest map at a discount before you could re-subscribe to the map update service.
You might be able to leave a gap between one expiring and starting a new update subscription if this happened between the release of two maps. _________________ Drivelux |
