pocketgpsworld.comDorset Safety Camera Partnership, keen to recoup the £1.5m they stand to lose because of the invalidated speed camera in Chideock have a cunning plan.

Their latest tactical move in the war against motorists is to convert red-light cameras to Monitron's that can operate in dual red-light and speed camera roles.

Following Home Office Type Approval and successful test, the Monitron cameras that were previously installed to monitor red light 'non-compliance' are now being converted to operate in a speed role as well.

Work has now begun on installing the additional road markings to cameras in Poole. You have been warned.

That's really not fair Evil or Very Mad. Double booking me for doing over 40 just because I'm jumping a red light at the time!

No, they're booking you for doing over 40 when you're NOT jumping the redlight. But I suppose a double booking could be on the cards.

Do what I do, just avoid Dorset as much as possible, don't holiday there even, take the money out of the economy.

I try to avoid Wiltshire too with their sneaky tactics too, it's just impossible to do if you're going to Somerset or Devon, unless you fly or catch a train.

That's OK, no traffic, no, speeding tickets, no revenue.... Bankrupt.

Get your bicycles out down to the station & catch a train.

With an Election looming within the next year, have you thought about putting together a Pocketgpsworld party, to campaign for "Justice For Motorists" to do a way with all these revenue raisers? God only knows what state the Economy would be in if the motorists weren't financing it!!

Police

Jurisprudence will protect you from being convicted twice on essentially the same evidence. The more likely disposal of this scenario through the courts is a summons for CARELESS DRIVING or possibly RECKLESS DRIVING depending on the circumstances. Feel better now?

Thanks for that info - interesting. It suggests not doing too many wrong things at once Surprised

I have to admit my post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek; the idea of someone actually breaking the speed limit at or near any traffic lights (red OR green) and then complaining about the dual use of the cameras was what appealed to my sense of humour (though someone driving like that anywhere near me wouldn't appeal to my sense of safe driving). Smile

Well form a coalition with them and campaign with greater number. Small minorities tend to get ignored..

The best thing to do is for all tourists to stay away from Dorset - they will soon realise that they are losing £100'smillions in their efforts to make 'extra' money from motorists who visit their county - it's called consumer power (or voting with your feet) and it works better than any other form of protest.

Northants and Cambridge hardly count a tourist destinations in my book. And I can certainly live without going to Dorset for a while, North Wales is another matter because I live not far from Shrewsbury but I may need some 'rain therapy' at some time.
