I have a TomTom 720, quite happy with it, but not so much TomTom anymore, no customer service and flaky software has made me look at other items for the time when the 720 does its final navigation to heaven or hell.
I keep coming back to the Navigon range, while the 720 is still working and current I cannot justify buying a new unit even if TomTom are just annoying me. However I am too interested and have purchased it, downloading now. I am really interested to navigate with the iPhone turn by turn and also a chance to try out Navigon, so looking forward to it........ just have to wait a while..come on, come on _________________ in the 128 |

Will there be any maps for countries outside the EU? Like USA, Canada, Australia and NZ? _________________ Audi S4

Its not very good, if the Radio or car deck has music playing at anything like a normal level (note not loud) its rather difficult to hear, so the Bluetooth connection is going to be used from now on.

Sadly no custom POI support is evident and neither is support for POI warnings which is a shame - Mike |

I doubt it, unless Poiwarner is developed for the iPhone.
Could be worth asking navigating.de if they have plans for Poiwarner on the iPhone. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Even if POIWarner developed something it would be a waste of time as the iPhone cannot run more than one application at the same time, so I fail to see why they would even bother knowing it wouldn't work - Mike |

Thanks Mike. Thats quite disappointing. I wonder if any other coming-soon alternatives will be any different. I suspect not as the iPhone loudspeaker is generally poor.

Again disappointing. I'm tempted to wait for tomtom now and see if they offer any improvement. |

I very much doubt any application will get more volume from what is poor hardware (Apples fault), indeed TomTom will be offering the accessory mount with external speaker and GPS in an attempt to overcome these issues, but this will be at a price.
The GPS on my 3G seems to work OK running the Navigon application and with the sound routed via Bluetooth I am quite happy with it, using this in a car devoid of Bluetooth or any means to use an aux input for the sound will be an issue when at speed as the hardware simply isn't up to the job - Mike |

I think i will wait and see what TomTom come out with, not over keen on the idea of not having speed camera alerts on my Iphone one gets so used to warnings from my Garmin and I also have free camera updates from PGPS for life so must keep them ,I was hoping that just one gadget in my car would cover all requirements. _________________ Iphone x 64gb IOS 11.3.1 / IPhone 6 Plus 32gb IOS 12 beta /Volkswagen Scirocco R 280 bhp /Suzuki Vitara swb vvt+ /Suzuki Jimny special/running Apple Mac Mini / Apple air/ iPhone x /6 plus navigation / Apple car-play |

I've already got a Totom 530 so really don't need this. The idea of having only 1 device to carry around appeals to me though.
I'd want custom POIs at least because I use it so much for work. My job involves visiting schools in the county where I live. It's so much easier having a custom POI list. |

You can manually save POI as a favourate and import addresses from Outlook on the Navigon PND's so I would expect the iPhone version to do the same? The only thing you can't do with the Navigon software is import POI files from here and other sites. (not without additional software). _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

I wouldn't consider any device that did not support third party POIs, I'm amazed that Navigon still don't. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yeah problem I have is that although I have all the addresses for schools they don't always get me to where I want to go. I have to check on google maps and then manually add it in as a POI. Villages tend to be the worst, I can end up the other side of the village even when I've entered in the right address. |

If you're in the UK and want to buy this (or if you intend buying TomTom when it appears) you might want to take advantage of the current Argos offer (ends on Monday) of 2 £15 Itunes vouchers for £20. A nice little saving. Best to reserve online for instore collection as many stores are running out of them.

Coincidentally I saw that on Twitter this morning and managed to pick up the last two at my local Argos.
If you do reserve on-line, be advised you will need to reserve two. Ignore the 2 x £15 on the confirmation, Argos staff will sort it out.
I got 2 x £15 cards for £20, bargain! _________________ Darren Griffin |
