My comment was not meant as an attack on your device, simply that the methods Garmin used to alert have changed since the i3 was launched. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I would expect points and a fine. _________________ Paul |

It's quite possible this is down to slight variations in the accuracy of the mapping at that point on that particular device....
I often find on my TomTom that the icon for a particular camera is a little bit out from where it appears on the Google submission map.
For this camera, the PGPSW submission map has it slap bang on the road at the maximum zoom available, while the TomTom has it JUST to the south side of the carriageway this time:

Well, I wondered about that....
But my screen grab from my TomTom is from last wednesday's database release, and that definitely isn't showing it as 30-40 feet off the road.
So there still must be something funny going on with the i3? |

I've often wondered if some of the problems with the Garmins not alerting is down to the maps but no-one has mentioned a camera being "off road" before.
My Nuvi 765T shows the camera "off road" slightly on an old database.

It could well be.... There definitely seems to be a few discrepancies of a few feet between different maps on different devices compared to the Google map we use. If all the errors happen to "go in one direction" it could end up with a camera being "off route" on some devices.
At least the annoying tendency of TomToms to think things are on-route when they aren't, means we don't miss cameras too often! |

Well I took a ride past there to day and got up to 32 on the i3, but no alert.
I then braked to get under 30 before the camera.
I did get the 30mph banner come up some way before the camera.
I'll try a hard reset and reload of the unit, and then try and take a pass by there again.
If anyone else can manage to go past and get a warning, I know my unit is at fault. |

Sounds as if you had the proximity banner alert but no overspeed.
Which database are you using? I find the zoned useful as you get the speed rating on each icon. _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600

I am using the consolidated one. This is the version I have used since day 1.

When you are in the area next look at these and see if you get Proximity and overspeed warnings:-
GATSO:2082@30, Heading:297, Single Direction
Centre Latitude: 51.63877 Longitude: -3.97335
Clearly 'off road' and not near the markings shown on satellite view.
GATSO:2080@30, Heading:135, Single Direction
Centre Latitude: 51.64002 Longitude: -3.97573
Clearly 'off carriageway' and not near the markings shown on satellite view.
These are, by the numerical ID, old locations, when I/we located them by our unit, before MaFt specified the location to be given on Google map.
MaFt can I/we update the locations without a visit as these are 70 miles away? _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600

You can actually see the shadow of the cam 2080 at Centre Latitude: 51.63989 -3.97549 but should realy be located at Centre Latitude: 51.63991 -3.97541 to put it in the centre of the carriageway. Similarly 2082 looks like it should be located at Centre Latitude: 51.63887 -3.97342
Both taken from the centre of the carriageway on the map with ref to shadows and distance from lines. But are they still there? |

Ok, I committed to a hard reset of my i3, and reloaded the cameras.
I also obtained another i3 and loaded the cameras to that.
Went past the camera and it now showed on both i3.
Removed cameras from second i3.
I've been unable to test those sites that were requested in Fforestfach yet, but will do it when I can. |

Managed to drive past both the other day, and get the mph warnings.
Was unable to go above 30 due to traffic so did not get to see cameras on the device.
