|
|
hi ive used your database for several years (the one that separates the cameras into 5 groups, but not right down into speeds) on my old tomtom one (the 1st version of it) - with no probs!
now ive just upgraded to the new tomtom one v5 with iq routes...put the files into the map folder - but although the locations and warnings all work as they should, i just get a red square showing up on the map instead of the proper little icons for the cameras/traffic lights.
im on the brand new 8.4 firmware, and everything else is working ok. any solutions to this one?
thanks |

It's nothing to do with IQ routes themselves - Sounds to me like you haven't copied the .bmp image files into the same folder as the .ov2 speed cam files. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

/A red square just means the software cannot find the right icon for the POI or camera file.
Check the files in your map folder... For each camera type you should have the data file (.ov2 extension on the name), the normal icon file (.bmp extension) and optionally, the double sized icon and a sound file (.ogg extension).
So for the mobiles for example you should have:
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp - this is the one you seem to be missing.
and optionally:
pocketgps_uk_mobile_x2.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ogg
... and similar sets for all the other camera types |

no, the .bmp's are in the same folder as the .ov2 files, and ive checked they're ok - but for some reason the tomtom is just displaying them as red squares.
not a massive problem as i still see them, and get the audible warnings - just would be nice to see the icon rather than this blob! |

Which folder have you put the files in to, on some devices there is folder named "map" this isn't where the POI files should be placed, the folder for the POI files will be named either "Western_Europe" or "UK&ROI" as applicable to a regional or full Euro device.
There are files either in the wrong place or the bmp files are missing from the correct folder - Mike |

yea its named 'United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland' on this one. its reading the .ov2 file, but for some reason not the accompanying .bmp - but ive checked again - all of the .bmps are in there to match the .ov2. |

I don't know if it helps, but I had the same problem when I used the x2 bmp files. When I went back to the usual files I could see the graphics again. I'm using the TomTom One 3rd edition. |

Do you have more than one map folder on the device? by map I mean folders with the name of United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland or UK&ROI as it could be the map folder you have put the POI files into isn't the active one, try Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Maps and see how many are listed on the device - if you have a One IQ device the map folder name seems strange as I would expect to se UK&ROI rather than the full blown title.
Otherwise give the reset switch hole a prod with a paperclip, if there is no reset hole on the device hole the on/ off button down for 30 seconds for the device to restart - Mike |

suppose i should have tried this before - i deleted them all from the folder on the tomtom, then copied them over again.
all works....so was as simple as a corrupted copy from the pc the first time round. duh!
[ps loving the new tomtom one v5, but seems a tad slower than my 3 year old first version tomtom one..and the touch screen seems a bit lower quality - seems to give a little under the touch.
anyway, suppose thats the price for a lighter, slimmer, relatively cheap unit.]
thanks for the comments/advice |

Alright Guys just got the same problem myself with My Tomtom one
But luckily ive had this problem before with other devices
The problem is that the new POCKETGPSWORLD.com speedcamera pics are of 32bit colour quality, but the tomtoms only recognise 16bit
I have converted the files and tested and all is working fine
Have also uploaded the pics you need to rapidshare
http://rapidshare.com/files/256948524/Pics.rar.html
please re-upload if you can as this link only supports 10 downloads
Just download and replace older ones or convert using adobe photoshop like i did
Cheers guys |

The normal icons are only 8 bit whilst the x2 icons are 24 bit colour depth in the version I have just downloaded and checked, the TomTom product range can certainly use both 8 bit and 24 bit colour depth icons - Mike |

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I had exactly the same problem with the Shell Garages POI, all I had to do was re-save the .bmp files in 16 colors and hey presto! |

This may be related....
Over on the yourTomTom forum, we've had a report from someone (HERE) that a TomTom XL running v8.014 won't show "full red" on icons correctly as transparent
whereas I've got an XL on a different version of software that displays them fine.
So maybe it's a software "challenge" on a particular version? |
