Well have a look at This Page and reserve online if your local store has one in stock, the RDS-TMC receiver price has fallen to an all time low - You even get change out of £5 and its the last type of receiver made that uses the iPOD/ RDS socket so it works quite well - Certainly worth considering at the price - Mike |

Hi Mike
Thanks for the tip off.
Mine is now reserved at Currys Lancaster awaiting my collection.
Currys Lancaster have even telephoned me to confirm that the receiver is waiting for me. In my opinion good service for less than a fiver _________________ Jonial

Thanks from me too Mike. I was surprised to find them still available and even more surprised to find one for collection in my home town which must have one of the smallest Currys ever.
This will be very useful if it works. Transferring the PAYG phone from my car to the Motorhome is always one more thing to do. Motorhome is an A-class with a big wide dash so I'll probably fit it and leave it in there. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

I'll add my voice to that, thanks again Mike, I have one reserved at Curry's Southport, less than a mile from home - I'm glad I didn't buy one 6 months ago when I first thought about it |

Thanks Mike.
I can't find my current one and anyway a fiver isn't much to lose if I bog up the 'attach to car aerial' mod. |

Yes thanks for that, I already have one of the new type attached to the car. I can now use/play with it indoors as well.
Picked it up an hour ago and it works fine _________________ Regards Mike |

Picked mine up today - got my threepence change and it is now up and running ok. Possibly quicker start up than my mini usb one.
Thanks again Mike _________________ Jonial

Picked mine up today.
Box was a bit tatty. but item is new.
I already have one, but it will be handy as a spare.
Saw this offer elsewhere but did not bother.
Thanks to Mike for the reminder, as it was only a fiver it seemed silly to turn my nose up, as the local store had them in stock.
Looks like more stores have them in stock now where people reserved but did not collect today. |

Thanks for the tip off. Reserved last night and picked mine up this morning at £4.97 - marked up as £9.97 in the store. I see that the Reserve & Collect price has gone up to up to £7.97 this morning. Probably still good value.

Did a run to Newcastle with mine last night running current navcore 8.351 and worked out of the box so didn't experience some of the issues found on here where it just refuses to work with the current version.
I have to say it took a while (about 20mins) to get traffic data (green dot rather than downloading arrow) but seemed reliable albeit with a truly annoying screen refreshing issue where the screen goes blank as reported by others. Had I spent about £40.00 on it (which is what has always put me off) I'd be a bit more irritated but with a pricetag of loose change I'd be happy to keep it and use it when needed. When I travel in Europe I don't seem to use up much PAYG with GPRS but I'm always a bit nervous about roaming on to a rather expensve network as I hack across the continent. This will remove that worry and as these trips are long, fiddling about with cables is more bearable. For day to day running around I think I'll still stick with the old Nokia in the boot but it's nice to have the option for under a fiver!
Thanks again Mike. Good of you to share. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Got it at the £4.97 and it worked straight out of the box with quick download. AND, I now have the screen redraw delay every X seconds too when it is plugged in
I will only need it occasionally so am not too bothered.
