NFF - No Fault Found - the usual response when something goes wrong and the 'techies' don't know how to fix it! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

No Fault Found - a universal abbreviation in the RMA world meaning roughly: "We don't take your word on how it fails 'cos it's too hard to tell your written instructions from your safety packaging, so we'll just test it through our own specially devised time-optimised quick test so that we can get it back to our very important customer just as soon as possible, minimising any angst on your part. We do find problems sometimes, honest!" ;-) _________________ Go Premium X / Go 1005 |

Ooh - you are a cynical lot today!
I have every faith that TT will in fact confirm all of the problems actually do exist and I am not making them up and will fix every single one of them |

FAQ Number 1 here in case you are not....
Always worth burning one to DVD too. Even a 2 year old backup is worth more than no backup at all... |
Yes window back ups. |

1. Check that you have a bunch of csspeechxx.dat files in your specific map folder.
2. Check that you have a computer voice selected.
3. Check that you have a text file called support_asr.dat with only a 1 in it in the asr folder. No blanks, spaces, quotes, just a 1. Further, ensure the file is NOT really saved as support_asr.dat.txt (Control Panel--Folder Options--View-- Advanced--Hide extensions for known file types is UNCHECKED. _________________ David

Yes. Tried both Simon and Kate.

Opened in Notepad. File had space a carridge return after the 1. Removed them and saved the file. Name has been checked and is ok. However "Spoken Address" and "Spoken Address (dialogue)" are greyed out.... |

Thank you! There's another missing part from versions 8.50 and 8.51, I had all those files EXECEPT the support_ast.dat, in the ASR folder. Checked the back up of version 8.50, not there either. Found an oldish complete back up on another drive, with that support_ast.dat file, copied it across, rebooted and now have the spoken address function back.
Boy somone in TT should be getting the bullet for the omissions they have left out of vers 8.50 and 8.51! Do they have no QA at all??? |

Well, you can try the Clear Flash tool found here and run it 3 times.
I also saw one person got the VR back by 'restore to factory defaults'. I expect you know that doing that will cause all your custom settings to be lost but it may be worth a shot.
