Hi,
I'm a lifetime member and have an older Go that I want to sell. A USP would be speed camera data, but I recognise the risks of selling a satnav with my subscribed cameras on it.
Would it be acceptable to open a new hotmail account, and then buy a camera subscription for that account, so that when the Go is sold, I simply give the buyer the hotmail account with it, and thereby transfer the balance of the subscription. If he turns out to be a rogue and gets banned, would that only affect the paid membership, or could my lifetime membership be at risk also.

Why not just remove the camera database from the unit before you sell it. |

Pocketgps is right. Maybe demonstrate the database on the unit and then give the seller the relevant info to find the site and buy their own sub. Then delete the database before handing over the unit.
If you do anything else i'd say you do it at you do so at your own risk. |

I was hoping that the database would help to sell the unit. I can't do the suggestions if I post the go. So I thought that I could buy a "transferrable" subscription and include it in the deal, as a "Unique Selling Proposition" |

There is no reason I can think of why that wouldn't work so long as the files were bought and downloaded under another account.
If they then are leaked we can at least block that account and cut off access. _________________ Darren Griffin |

FWIW, I sold my old GO 300 "as basic" and I think that this is probably more what people are looking for. It's a nice idea to try to add value, but for the person who is buying an old satnav, you are probably going beyond what they want/understand. |

Okay, I get what you are saying now. As Darren says that would work. Depends on how much you get for the unit, but a £20 database is a lot to give away with the deal.
If you are selling via flea bay then you need to set a good reserve price. Also say the unit comes with a free 12 month sub to PGPSW safety cameras pre loaded.
You would have the name and address of the seller that way to register the account at PGPSW, that's presuming the seller does not already use or have an account here at PGPSW and if they would like to use their own email address.
Gets more complicated by the minute |

Also wouldn't the sub be linked to your PayPal account / Credit Card too?
What if the buyer already has a PGPSW sub? |
