|
|
I have been using the speed camera database and the free POI's on my Nuvi for some time. Today I decided to download a more extensive set of POI's and also installed the latest speed camera database. I also deleted the old free cyclops database off the unit.
Now nothing displays - no speed cameras no POI's - just the map and my favourites?? I know the POI's are loaded as I checked using exporer. they are in the right place on the Nuvi and are selected as display proximity points too? I also reloaded the free trial cyclops databse back again in case it was deleting that the screwed it?
Anyone got any ideas?

Have you exceeded the limit? There is a limit of around 250 on your model IIRC.
Might be worth removing the lot and restarting with just a few to test? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hmm, perhaps try a system reset? _________________ Darren Griffin |

How did you do this?
By default, POILoader creates POI.GPI, overwriting any previously existing file. So, if you run it twice in succession, you end up with the last thing you loaded.
You can avoid this, by either having one huge tree that contains all your files (so they all get loaded at once), or by renaming the POI.GPI to somethingelse.GPI after the 1st run.
(You can also use the 'Custom Folder' option and build the POI.GPI on your PC, then rename it before copying to your Nüvi.)
The way to 'know the POIs are loaded', is to find them in the Nüvi menu, select one of 'em and examine its details. (Where to? | Extras | Custom POIs ... etc)

No that's not related - except that it might confuse the issue, having double alerts for some of the cameras. (Not all the cameras...the cyclops database doesn't contain all the cameras ) |

did you just copy and paste the files using explorer? you need to use poi loader software to install them!

I did use the POI loader. Curiously I now have the poi's working - with icons showing but not the speed cameras (which always worked in the past). I could navigate to them though, as they show in the where to - extras bit - just not on the screen!
It's got me puzzled. |

Perhaps an obvious question, but have you zoomed in enough on the map, to make the camera icons visible?

Yes I have- the other icons are visible, so the speed ones should be too?
Thanks for reply though! |

Did you load the POIs and the Speed Camera at the same time or the Speed Cameras first and then the POIs? |

I have, I think got to the bottom of this. The speed cameras are there as tiny icons (little blue spheres) rather than the 30mph, 40mph icons I have been used to. I am using the speed zone complete set and they always showed previously as the speed icon. Why they dont do so now is annoying. As it is, they arent obvious till you you are on top of them and dont give a warning unless you are exceeding the limit. |

I'm sure I recall that being a symptom of too many POIs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren. I'll try knocking off some of the newly loaded ones and see if that helps! |
