I am not too sure what you chaps have downloaded if you are reporting tiny download file sizes I have just tried this:
540/740 Download and thats 35,4MB
x30 Download is 35,5MB
Which is about the normal download size for a Navcore update - Mike |

On home, the file did say 35KB and was listed as small. However, a full navcore version was installed so either the file listed was listed incorrectly (not a surprise) and should have said 35MB or the 35KB file was an initialization file downloaded prior to proceeding with the full download... or???

If you really must persist using Home for Navcore updates than at least learn how to ignore version numbers and file sizes, you would be more accurate having a wild guess or using that software for picking lottery numbers - I got the figures I quoted by performing manual downloads straight from the TT servers using Internet Explorer - Mike |

Yep - HOME lists it as 35Kb for me as well but downloads a 35.5Mb file. |

well its fixed 2 problems for me. I no longer get 15 second screen redraws with TMC connected and I can now connect my phone again - although BT still seems a little shaky. |

I also updated my TT 720 to ver 8.351.
The device still hangs when connecting it to a computer, so they did not solve this issue introduced with version 8.350.
There is obviously a workaround, how would I else have been able to upgrade, but all the tweaking and resetting involved makes me less excited to use MapShare and other updates. |

It was a 35.5 MB download for me too, although Home described it as tiny. Runs OK and when I tried a demo route, I could not detect any change in volume. Will just take it out for a couple of miles, and will report back with an edit
Robin
Have just tried it out on the road. The volume is a little higher, but nothing like earlier versions. Jane is just about usable at 100%, while Kate is fine at 90-95%. _________________ TomTom One v3 Europe, Navcore 7.903, Western Europe 835.2420

I still get the 15 second redreaw issue so it has not fixed it for me.
TT have told me to stop using 8.350 and go back to 8.301 to solve the redraw issue. They did not mention 8.351 at all. |

I have just downloaded version 8.351, and for me it has fixed the voume issue, nice loud instructions again. Can't see any other differences though. |

Regarding the volume issue... and this is just what I observed on my unit of course...
Prior to 8.350 100% volume was too loud to ever use as the distortion was unbearably high and would certainly damage the speaker if left that way.
After updating to 8.350 the volume was reduced so that 100% volume was now just slightly distorting. In other words, as loud as I would ever have wanted it. While this seems to be the case with some who updated, others reported such a drastic volume drop that even 100% was unacceptably quiet.
Now with 8.351 the volume level for myself and some others is unchanged and remains slightly reduced and perfectly acceptable. For others, the volume is louder. So I wonder if the excessive volume drop some experienced was simply a software installation glitch (or bug that messed up units with certain settings) and that this new version simply installed properly for them (or the bug got worked out for the affected settings)? For me the before and after regarding volume is the same.

I've noticed your Home location now has a little house icon. It's in 8.350 and 8.350 but not 8.310...
8.351 seems ok here. Only problem i found was long lock times with 8.350 but it appears that's sorted with 8.351.. |

I have 8.302 on the 920T internal memory, had "upgraded" to 8.350 on SDHC card to get the useless volume. After backup, I've installed 8.351 to SDHC card.
Simple test, in the quiet of my computer room I take out the SDHC card and reboot into 8.302. With no route selected, I tap the bottom left for a volume test and get "You have reached your destination" intolerably loud, albeit without distortion. I KNOW that volume to be audible in the vehicle.
Insert SDHC card and reboot into 8.351 and the same test is not as loud.
My conclusion is that this 8.351 has done nothing for my volume problem. Providing I get work tomorrow, I shall then see whether it has resolved the half spoken (cut off) traffic information or nav instructions and the blinking screen refresh.
It'll help if posters indicate exactly which device they have in this thread. _________________ Dennis

Mike, is there a link to use to get this download directly from the TT Servers?
Although I have never had any problems using Home to get updated Navcore files in the past, I'd also like to copy to a fresh SD card for testing.
Cheers. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |
