I bought a new icn530 2.5 years ago, and while I appreciate that technology does not stand still, I am disappointed that I cannot get updated maps for my system anymore, is this a ploy by the manufacturers to get you to update your machine.
Why can't the manufacturers not stick to 1 or 2 types of maps or supply info of anyone that will be able to supply maps as I don't do anything like the mileage I used to so cannot justify the cost of a new machine for the few times I use it, but the road network around has changed a lot. |

Some do offer update for even their older models, but many don't. Buyer beware.
TT and Garmin have always been good at offering map updates. Navman have always been quick to abandon older models and their owners. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi,
Is it possible to use map from another manufacturer on the Navman 530? |

I discovered the manufacturer of the maps for Navman, but they are still under license, they have updates for these maps but cannot supply them yet |

Yet? never more likely. The source of the data is Navteq but the format is Navman. They will NEVER be available unless Navman or their new owners Mio offer them, sorry. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The new N-series maps are in the same format as the icn 530 maps, so they well may work, i know they are 2008, but still better thant the 2006 maps |

That is probably why the mapping company will not release the icn maps.
Thanks |

Nope. Neither TeleAtlas not Navteq release maps for ANY portable sat-nav. They sell the map data to the companies who release their own maps. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have found out the N-series maps wont work on the iCN 530, so the 2006 SE is the only update for this device |
